This is My Story: Learning to Share Our Faith Stories

Saturday, October 21 from 8:30 a to 12:30 p

at St. Elizabeth's Church, Ridgewood

Episcopalians tend toward a private faith, yet we live in a time when people struggle with anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Responding to that need requires us all – church leaders and new Christians alike – to develop the ability to share our faith stories.

Join our Diocesan friends in this half-day workshop Saturday, October 21st from 8:30 a to 12:30 p at St. Elizabeth’s in Ridgewood. Dr. Lisa Kimball and the Rev. Dr. Tricia Lyons of Virginia Theological Seminary will present their joyful, fun approach to learning how to share our faith stories. Along with breakfast, we will have two speakers, Dr. Lisa Kimball and the Rev. Dr. Tricia Lyons, discussing how to tell our faith stories. Your $10 registration fee includes a light breakfast.

Please forward this invitation to others you think would be interested. Find out more & register online: dioceseofnewark.org/faith-stories.

'The Philadelphia Eleven' Movie Premiere

Click on the picture above to watch the official trailer.

Saturday, October 22 at 4 pm

at the Church of the Redeemer, Morristown

“The Philadelphia Eleven” a feature-length documentary about the first women ordained to the priesthood in The Episcopal Church will have its northeast U.S. premiere at the Church of the Redeemer, 36 South St., Morristown, on October 22 at 4 pm. Director and Producer Margo Guernsey will be present for a panel discussion following the film.

Nearly 50 years ago, in 1974, a group of 11 women and their supporters organized their ordination and became Episcopal priests in an act of ecclesiastical disobedience. This story is told in the compelling new documentary 'The Philadelphia Eleven'.

This film explores the lives of eleven remarkable women who succeeded in transforming an age-old institution when they took a stand—despite the threats to their personal safety and the risk of rejection by the church they loved. These women are an inspiration for a generation of women in the ministry, and a clarion call for the entire Christian Church.
