Minor met with more than 80 Massachusetts National Guard Soldiers assigned to Charlie Company 1st Battalion 181st Infantry Regiment mobilized to support Task Force Warrior in Djibouti prior to visiting Kenya. Here he is offering a prayer.

as Senior Chaplain for the Massachusetts National Guard

The senior chaplain assigned to the Massachusetts National Guard visited Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and Kenya April 25-28, highlighting one of the National Guard's lesser-known missions, building enduring partnerships through its State Partnership Program. 

U.S. Army Col. Paul Minor met with his Soldiers deployed to CJTF HOA and visited Kenya, which is Massachusetts' assigned country under the State Partnership Program. U.S. forces are in Kenya at the invitation of the Kenyan government. They operate in a close partnership with and hosted by Kenyan military facilities.

"We are here to share and learn best practices with our religious partners," said Minor. "We aren't here to presume we have things to teach, but rather things we can learn and ideas we can exchange."

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry speaks to a packed room at the Annual Diocesan Clergy Conference.
Co-Rectors Cheryl and Paul Minor attended the Annual Diocesan Clergy Conference this past week.

Presiding Bishop Michael B. Curry opened the Clergy Conference with a morning session on Monday, April 29 beginning at 10 a.m.  It was mostly an opportunity for Q & A with the PB. Issues raised included the increase in part-time clergy and the Diocese and the unique challenges that presents. 

This year's guest presenter was The Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas , Dean of Episcopal Divinity School at Union Theological Seminary and Professor of Theology. Dean Douglas' presentations were entitled, "Beyond White Supremacy: Being Church in a Changing America." 

Staff from the National Church offices were also on hand to share the new resources being developed for parishes interested in issues of race and reconciliation

Volunteers needed to help prepare and serve the meal for the Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen Mother's Day weekend.

Plan for All Saints' Memorial Day Float underway!

Once again, All Saints' will have a float in the Memorial Day Parade in Belmont, Monday, May 27. Join with others as we decorate the float on Sunday, May 26 after the 10:00 am service. Then ride or walk along with the float on Monday, May 27. The kick-off is at 11:00 am in Cushing Square.
