A Note from Father Brown
Dear Friends,
I hope you all had a very happy Thanksgiving. I will be brief.
Please note that this Sunday (Dec. 1) is the first Sunday of Advent (propers here), marking the Church’s new year. It is also the first Sunday of the month, meaning that there will be a covered dish luncheon in the parish hall following the 10:30 Holy Communion. The Sunday scripture study will take place, as usual, and with coffee service, at 9:00 in the parish hall, although without Putt Wetherbee and Dr. Jackson. I will be filling in, leading the discussion. It is also a Sensory Sunday in the nursery (details below). There is something to do for all ages!
During the covered dish luncheon, you will have an opportunity to make an Advent Wreath for use at home. We will provide the materials, instructions for making and using the wreaths, together with the Prayer Book collects corresponding to each Sunday and its respective candle.
Please note that tomorrow, Saturday, November 30th, is the feast of St. Andrew, the apostle of our Lord (propers here). Holy Communion will be in St. David’s Chapel at 2:00 pm (this is a change in time from noon).
I am sad to say that Nate Pedersen has had to cancel his presentation on Ward Allen and Christmas Moultrie at next week’s Body & Soul. We will still meet at the usual time (doors open at 5:30), but the program won’t be what we were expecting. I hope to reschedule Nate for another Body & Soul in the new year.
Lastly, congratulations to little Molly Kirkpatrick, granddaughter of Bernie and Kathy, and daughter of Thomas and Mary Katherine. Molly was baptized on Tuesday at All Saints’, thereby becoming that which by nature she could never be: a child of God, a living member of Christ’s Body, and an heiress of everlasting salvation. Thanks be to God!
We are entering a very busy season in our community, and at All Saints’. Please note the schedule of fun and edifying events and services below in this email. I am very much looking forward to seeing you soon!
Pax,
GWB+
