All Saints’ Mission:
We live into the love of God for all through our prayer, praise, and service.
| |
3rd Sunday after the Epiphany - Jan. 22, 2023
As we move into a new chapter at All Saints’, I hope you had the opportunity to celebrate Mother Sara’s ministry with us last Saturday and were able to say farewell to her. Our gratitude for all that Mother Sara has done for All Saints’ and its community is immeasurable. During her five and half years with us, she has accompanied us on a long and sometimes bumpy path toward this next chapter of discernment, discovery, and growth.
All Saints’ accomplishments reflect who we are and what we are capable of becoming. As we move forward, we must listen to our better angels knowing that uncertainty about the direction and future of our beloved church will evoke anxiety and mistrust. How we respond and act on our hopes and fears will determine its growth and shape its character. We are invited during this time of change to come together, practice, and learn the love of God operating in the human heart. May we hold much hopeful anticipation in the months ahead.
Jason Alexander, our diocesan Canon to the Ordinary, will visit with us and preach during worship this Saturday and Sunday - January 21st and 22nd. After worship, he will speak about the transition and search for a new vicar for All Saints’ and answer any questions. I hope you can join us.
As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, and/or hopes. srwarden@allsaintsbentonville.org.

Creation Care - Jackie Bromley
Creation Prayer
With all that has been happening lately (in the world and in our own little piece of it here at All Saints), I hope you will take a breath and consider the beauty around us.
Thank you blessed Mother for our big blue home. Thank you for the vivid sky and blessed sun, the salty sea and fresh running streams of water, the everlasting hills, and swirling winds, for trees and green grass under our feet.
Thank you for the senses of sound, sight, smell, and taste by which we hear the birds, see the flowers, smell the sweet air following the rain and taste the fruits of your gardens. Grant us a huge heart to love your Creation and to care for it as you do. Amen.

Diocesan Profile Completed
The Bishop Search Committee has published the 2023 Diocesan Profile. The Diocesan Profile expresses the hopes and goals of the people of the diocese regarding our next bishop. In addition, it provides an overview of our history, where we are now, and our strategy for the future. The profile was compiled in collaboration with the Standing Committee and diocesan staff and informed by the feedback collected at the Holy Conversations conducted last fall. You can read the profile online or download a PDF.
Discretionary Funds Always Needed
Did you know that we get calls every week (nearly every day) requesting assistance for rent/utilities/gas/household goods? Gas cards and gift certificates (Walmart, Dollar General) are always welcome, as we try to help however we can. When we provide aid, we pay the companies, landlords, etc., directly. Assistance will continue through the time of transition.
Little Free Pantry & Library
Each Sunday a basket is available to collect your non-perishable donations, and these will–if all goes well!--be brought forward at the offertory to be received and blessed. If the pantry is full, we have a cabinet in the back workroom to store food for refilling. Thank you for your contributions, for sharing in your abundance with our community.

Prayers for the departed: all who have died from sickness and at the hands of violence and injustice, and others whom we hold in our hearts.
O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: Accept our prayers on behalf of your servants and grant them an entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of your saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayer for the Bishop Search Process
Gracious God, We give thanks and praise for your work among us and through us, generation to generation. We thank you for the leadership and ministry of Bishop Larry Benfield. Lead us in the months ahead as we prayerfully search for our next Bishop. Raise up for us a steadfast steward who will embrace our broad and blessed diversity and uphold the apostolic heritage of your Church. Guide us to a faithful witness who speaks the Gospel truth in love and joy, and intimately knows your Word and world. Direct us in our discernment so our faith may increase and our works glorify your Name. All this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.
