Plenty Good Room: Stewardship 2027
This Week's Reflection: Belonging
| | | | Stewardship is our faithful reply to God’s generosity. Stewards are protectors, benefactors, caretakers, teachers. Families and Individuals make pledges of time, resources, and talent in thanksgiving for our beautiful community at Advent. This year’s theme, Plenty Good Room, is a call back to a beautiful, mesmerizing and historical spiritual of the same name. Originating from the slavery era southern Black church communities, the refrain beckons us: | | |
Plenty good room, plenty good room,
plenty good room in my Father's kingdom,
Plenty good room, plenty good room,
just choose your seat and sit down.
That sounds like an invitation to talk – with each other and God. In other words - all are welcome and together we have enough – take a load off. Time and again Advent, though a small church, has shown that “enough” can grow love, welcome, belonging, joy, and compassion to new heights.
Click here to read the rest of the Stewardship Chairs' Letter introducing Plenty Good Room.
You should have received your pledge card in the mail. Please return it before Nov. 22nd. You can also pledge online with the link below. We ask you to consider your pledge of time, talent, and treasure.

This week's Stewardship Reflection:
PLENTY GOOD BELONGING
Our parish is a place of belonging — a community where each person matters, and each gift is cherished. Together we are the Body of Christ. This week, we prayerfully discern how we can best use our individual gifts to become a community where all share in the abundance of God’s love. At Church of the Advent there is Plenty Good Room for all.
Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services but the same Lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
1 Corinthians 12:4-7

Thank you to everyone who joined Team Advent for the Interfaith Walk to End Hunger this past Sunday. Together, our team raised $700 to help feed our neighbors! We walked with 6 other places of worship from Medfield, Dedham, Westwood and Norwood and donated a record-breaking $19,000 to Project Bread and several carloads of food to our local food pantries. There’s never been a more important time to mobilize to end the growing hunger crisis in our communities.
Thank you, again, for living into our faith promises.
