Dear Friends

This past Sunday, we had an awesome time at the pool party—huge thank you to the Connell family for graciously hosting us! It was the perfect evening for big jumps off the diving board, pool float flipping, and some delicious summer grilling. We were especially excited to welcome our new 6th graders, who made a big splash—both in the pool and in our community—as they joined us for the first time. We'll be back in the Attic September 7th but there are all sorts of events happening the rest of August!

Bring your calendar up to the Attic for the Youth & Children's open house. The Open House August 17th 11:00am-12:30pm in the Attic. This is a great chance to meet our formation teachers, tour the attic, and see what's instore for the upcoming year.

After the open house we are hosting a Safeguarding God's Children training. All volunteers with Children and Youth must get Safeguarding God's Children training. I will be doing a class August 17, 12:30-3:00 here at All Saints' in the Attic. Please email me if you are able to attend so we can include you in our lunch order.

Back to the Block is happening on August 24th and you won’t want to miss it. We’ll have tons of games like Gaga Ball, Spikeball, Cornhole, and Giant Jenga, plus a waterslide to zoom down. There will be live music, delicious food, and a whole lot of energy on the block. And that’s not all—you’ll have the exciting chance to pie a priest! That’s right, you’ll get a whipped cream pie and your choice of which All Saints’ staff member to pie. It’s going to be a blast, and we can’t wait to see you Back to the Block!

Peace,

Luke

Safeguarding

August 17

12:30-3:00 on the 3rd fl of Pritchett (The Attic)

A lite lunch will be available

Our Diocese and All Saints' take seriously the safety of all our children. If you volunteer with Children or Youth, you must take the Safeguarding God's Children training. I will be teaching the course in a few weeks here at church. If you can make that date, you need to email Kathy Roberts to register.

If you can't take it then, you can take the online training - just go to Safe Church Training, check out the dates available, and sign up!

Even if you don't work with Children or Youth, you are encouraged to get trained - the more we know, the safer our kids are.

The Diocese of Atlanta does Zoom training also and you can sign up for one of these.

Volunteer Opportunity

To help build stronger connections and make this year meaningful for our youth, I’ve put together a Sign-Up Genius and a Google Doc with a variety of ways you can get involved in youth ministry. The Google Doc lists all the volunteer roles—please check the boxes for anything you're comfortable signing up for. The Sign-Up Genius includes specific dates and time slots for each opportunity.

Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or looking to jump in for the first time, there’s something for everyone:

Volunteer Roles Available:

  • Provide Dinner for Sunday Night Youth Group (SNL): Help feed our hungry youth by cooking, ordering, or bringing dinner. Fan favorites include Moe’s and Papa John’s Pizza—always a hit!

  • Sunday Formation Teacher: Join a team of volunteers to lead Sunday morning formation. Don’t worry—you won’t be doing it alone. We’re building a team-based structure to make it collaborative and low-pressure, even for first-time teachers.

  • Sunday Greeters (Morning and Evening): A warm hello makes all the difference. Greeters help our youth feel seen and welcomed as they arrive for programming.

  • Drivers & Chaperones for Local Outings: Occasionally, we’ll head off-site for events like bowling, laser tag, Braves games, or other local activities. We’re looking for adults willing to drive and actively participate—whether that means scoring strikes or just being a supportive presence.

  • Retreat Drivers & Chaperones: If you’re able to spend a weekend away, we’d love to have you join us as a chaperone or driver. It’s a chance to connect deeply with our youth and experience God’s presence in new ways.

  • Home Gathering Hosts: We’re looking for hosts willing to open their homes for small-group gatherings, game nights, or seasonal celebrations. You choose what you’re comfortable hosting.

  • Letter Writing: Help send notes and flyers to members in our community

We’re looking forward to an amazing year together, and I’m so grateful for your time, support, and energy as we continue building a meaningful youth community!

Meet our new Ministry Intern

Naivion Stephens!

Everyone give a warm welcome to our new Ministry Intern, Naivion Stephens!

Naivion will be joining us this upcoming fall semester, and we’re so excited to have him on board. He poised to graduate with a baccalaureate degree in Philosophy and Religion from Morehouse College. Following this milestone, he will pursue a Master of Divinity at either the University of Chicago or Harvard University. His goal is to be ordained to preach, enter the academy as a Professor of Sacred Theology, Religion, Biblical Hermeneutics, and Philosophy, and continue advancing the mission of theological education and spiritual formation. He’s looking forward to meeting all of you and jumping into ministry with our amazing community!

Let’s show him how welcoming and supportive our All Saints' family can be!
