Dear Friends,

Youth ministry thrives on food. Stereotypically, it's pizza, but all kinds of food are welcome in the Attic. Whether it's homemade or takeout, providing dinner is an incredible way to serve our students. Sharing a meal on Sunday nights is a key aspect of our evenings. Providing a meal is so much more than feeding hungry teenagers. It's helping create an environment where relationships grow, conversations happen, and Jesus is at work. It really is one of the biggest ways you can support our youth ministry.

Food is one of the most important parts of Jesus' ministry. Time and again, He taught around the table. In many ways, the meal itself became the lesson. Jesus gathered with friends, outcasts, sinners, and crowds of people, and He fed them all. He is the Bread of Life, after all. Before His crucifixion, He shared one last meal with His disciples in the Eucharist. After His resurrection, one of His first acts was making breakfast for them on the beach. He fed the crowds of 4,000 and 5,000, leaving everyone satisfied, with leftovers.

Our dinners may not be the miraculous feasts of Jesus, but His work is still happening around our tables. When we break bread together, we create space for the Bread of Life to meet our students.

We will begin by meeting in the chapel after the 10am service, before sharing a meal together. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet new acolytes, reconnect with returning acolytes, learn about your acolyte teams, and spend time getting to know one another. After lunch, we’ll enjoy some games and activities review the acolytes duties as we prepare for the year ahead.

EYC DIO ATL EVENTS

Connecting with our Dioceses

In the Episcopal church we are connected with a large network of churches called a Dioceses. We are lucky as the Dioceses of Atlanta has a robust ministry within it, hosting events throughout the year for middle and high schoolers to grow into their faith, find community and have a deeper understanding of ones self.

These events in the dioceses are planned and ran by youth from churches all over the dioceses, Macon to Toccoa and everything in between! The youth are facilitated by a team of adults in the dioceses consisting of priests, youth minsters, youth volunteers and parents.

Fun Fact: We have a number of youth involved in the dioceses! They are receiving awards, planning retreats, and attending for the first time. It is a great community, come and see!

This year All Saints is plugging into the dioceses and attending some key events throughout the year. We'll start off with some of the Fall Events coming up!

Happening 84 High schooler Candidate registration: Camp Mikell Oct 16-18, 2026.

https://www.tfaforms.com/5215534

Happening is a weekend spiritual retreat for high schoolers planned by high schoolers with talks, activities, and surprises planned throughout the weekend aimed to enrich one's faith and deeper their understanding. Happening retreats are often landmark occasions in the lives of young people — this is where they go deeper with their faith, grow closer with people in our community, or both. Happening takes place twice a year (October and February).

Another Fun! I am the Observing Lay Director for the Happening Movement in the Dioceses of Atlanta working alongside Hope Westervelt! I am a product of the Happening community attending Happening 70. I attended in high school and hand a profound experience with the Holy Spirit that changed my life and lead me to where I am now. I am not putting that kind of expectation or pressure on this event but I do invite you to be open to new experiences and see what God can do in your life.

Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta from November 6-7.

https://www.tfaforms.com/5215541

Youth from all over the dioceses lock in the Friday night of Annual Council for games, singing, and a four-square tournament. Annual Council is the diocesan meeting where delegates from all of the parishes in Middle and North Georgia do church business. After the fun of Friday night, we do get a little bit of sleep, because on Saturday morning we lead the entire Council in a Youth Morning Prayer service. We also lead a service project! This event takes place at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta (Buckhead).

New Beginnings 52 (Nov 13-15 @ Mikell):

https://www.tfaforms.com/5215537

New Beginnings is a retreat for middle school students. It’s a great way for pre-teens and younger teens to experience Mikell and EYCDIOATL for the first time. High school students and adults on the New Beginnings Team structure this weekend especially for middle schoolers. That means that the talks, games, crafts, and activities are all designed for this particular age group. Our goal is to help students better understand their faith and their place in God’s Church. Unlike Happening, middle school students can attend as many times as they’d like! New Beginnings happens twice a year (November, March).
