Vestry Meeting Summary

All Saints Vestry Summary for September 20, 2026

  • Motion passed to close the Nantahala CD and place the funds into savings until a money market decision is made.
  • Lainee asked Marty to present two (2) bids for the St. Agnes bathroom. David Virga had the lower bid and will be asked to come to the October meeting. The bathroom will be adapted to ADA standards. Virga has recently completed work on the street entry door at St. Agnes where wood rot was allowing air and dirt in
  • Motion passed to award replacement of the HVAC units at St. Agnes Chapel to Corban & McMahan.
  • Motion passed to give an altar made by Fr. Kennedy, currently stored at Church of the Messiah in Murphy, to St. Mathias in Asheville. Canon Augusta offered it to All Saints rather than donate it to a museum.
  • The Annual meeting is on Oct 11 at St. Cyprian Chapel.  There will be one service at 10:15am followed by the meeting and a potluck luncheon. Three (3) new Vestry members will be elected as well as delegates to Diocesan Convention on Nov. 7 at Lake Logan Conference Center.
  • Motion passed to create a 30 second video to be shown at Ruby Cinemas during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays as well as Lent that will promote All Saints Episcopal Church. Our webmaster will create this video. The cost of the ad is being donated.
  • Tanya Hunt has offered her time to plant perennials in the grassy area between the two (2) walkways at St. Cyprian Chapel. This will beautify the area as well as providing less maintenance of the area. She also wants to work on the area behind the ramp.
  • Due to vehicles that are being parked in the soccer field near the woods when no events are taking place, Marty and Gerald will post a “Church and Soccer Field Parking Only” sign as well as some barriers on the slight hill between the end of the old basketball court, at the end of the gravel driveway, and in the access area on Roller Mill Road.

Announcements

Annual Diocesan Delegates - Henrietta Haithcock, John Russell, and Dawn Armfield have been nominated for conference delegates to the annual conference being held on Saturday, November 7th at Lake Logan. We will elect two (2) plus an alternate at the Annual Meeting.

Vestry Candidates - Linda Lee Miller, David Moore, Tanya Hunt, Matt Jones, and John Russell have been nominated for vestry candidates. We will elect three (3) at the annual meeting.

Discretionary Giving Week– As a reminder, this week's loose cash offering will go directly into the Priest's Discretionary Fund. If you want to write a check, please put "discretionary" in the memo. With winter coming, there will be great need. Thank you for your generosity.

New Bulletin– For many years, our bulletin was created in a Microsoft product that, as of October 1, has been shut down. Beginning with the October 11 service, you may find the bulletin looks a bit different. We will try to preserve as much of the formatting you are familiar with as we can. Thank you for your patience as we transition.

Online Worship– We have started testing livestreaming of our services while we continue to address some audio and video issues. Thank you for your patience as we get closer toward a solution.

Yoga- All Saints is offering yoga, with an insured, certified instructor, for $10/class! Our next class is on Saturday, October 10, at 10:00 am, at St. Cyprian Parish Hall. We do have a few mats available for folks who don't have their own to bring.

Eucharist & Healing Service– Come join us for a Eucharist & Healing Service on Wednesday, October 7, at 11:30 am, at St. Agnes. Everyone is welcome!

Meet with Father E.R.- Father E.R. would love the opportunity to meet each parishioner. If you have not had the chance to sit down with him and share your story, call the office to set up a meeting.

Updated Website- If you haven't had a chance yet, we invite you to explore our new website! Whether you're looking for worship times, upcoming events, or parish news, you'll find it all in one convenient place. Check it out at www.allsaintsfranklin.org.

Feast of St. Francis - Sunday, October 4, 2:30 pm, at St. Agnes, we will hold a Blessing of the Animals. This service is open to all pets, service animals, photos of pets, or stuffed animals. All pets must remain secured on leashes, in crates, or inside carriers.

Annual Meeting - October 11 will be our Annual Meeting. We will have one (1) service at St. Cyprian's at 10:15 with the Annual Meeting to follow along with a potluck. Potluck sign up sheets will be in the foyer at St. Cyprian and on the back table at St. Agnes.

Paper Clip Project - Many of you who watched the Paper Clip Project got excited about the possibility of making a trip to the school to see the railroad car where the paperclips ended up. If you are interested in watching the documentary or hearing more, I have added a couple of links below.

Outreach Ministry

Food Pantry- Please continue to bring items for our "Little Free Food Pantry" for those in need. Your donations will be accepted any day. There is a designated shopping cart in the foyer of the parish hall at St. Agnes and also a designated bin inside the parish hall at St. Cyprian’s.  Please do not place fresh foods, i.e. fresh fruits or vegetables, in the free food pantry; though we have a lot of people using the food in the pantry, the frequency of people using it is not high enough to ensure that fresh food does not spoil.

Downtown Door is collecting men's clothing.

All Saints Outreach meets the fourth Sunday of each month during coffee hour. The next meeting will be Sunday, October 25, at St. Cyprian following the 10:15 am service. Come get your treats and see how we can lift up our community together!

Honoring our Veteran's

In celebration of America's 250th Anniversary, and in honor of our Veterans on the upcoming Veteran's Day, please welcome representatives of 828Vets on Sunday, October 4, 2026. 828Vets is a local all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization that meets weekly to see how it can assist veterans and their families.

For example, they provide food, wheelchairs, walkers, and furniture from donations they have received. In addition, veterans have received assistance with wheelchair ramps and wheelchair accessible bathrooms. It is also a social organization for veterans and their families.

The representatives will discuss with us the needs of the veteran community. We can provide needed monetary assistance to this organization by writing a check to All Saints and marking the memo line "Vets". One check will be sent to 828Vets in time for Veteran's Day. They would also love to hear from you if you have time and talent to volunteer your services. If you have any questions, please contact Rose Braddock.

Ladies’ Social- The Ladies' Social is temporarily suspended due to the busyness of the season and will reconvene sometime this fall. In the meantime, we encourage all of the ladies to stay connected, enjoy fellowship with one another, and share your ideas for future gatherings.

Men’s Breakfast– The men meet every Wednesday morning at 8:30 am at Normandie Restaurant for breakfast. All men are welcome to join us.

Altar Flowers- If you would like to donate to provide flowers and dedicate them to someone, please sign up on the list in church or contact Nicole in the church office. We ask for a donation of $35 to cover the cost of the flowers. If you donate, you are welcome to take the flowers after the 10:15 am service. Please do not take the inserts or vases. There are bags available for easy transport - ask someone on the Flower Guild for assistance. If you would like the flowers to be given to someone else, you can make arrangements with a member of the Flower Guild.

Calendar- Our website has a calendar that shows upcoming events in the life of the Parish, including the time and location of services each Sunday. Please take a look at it and let us know if you have any suggestions for improvement. We hope to make it a valuable resource for all of us to keep up with what is happening in our church family. You can find it here.
