Dear All Saints Family,
As your lay delegates to the 2026 Convention of the Diocese of Florida, we recently attended a day of study, education, and prayer focused on the upcoming selection of our next Bishop. We write to share that experience, and to ask for your attention and prayers as we prepare for the election on Sept. 11, and the convention on Sept. 12, 2026.
During the retreat, we studied the Bishop’s ordination service from The Book of Common Prayer, beginning on page 512, and reflected on the examination and vows of a Bishop and what they mean to us as members of The Episcopal Church. We discussed the duties, gifts, and leadership qualities needed in a bishop and how they impact our congregations and ministries. These conversations helped clarify what we hope to see in our next bishop and how we may prayerfully discern those qualities in the nominees.
You may wonder: What do delegates do? On behalf of our congregation, we are charged with carefully considering how to vote on resolutions and, this year, participating in the selection of the next Bishop. We pledge to fulfill these important responsibilities through knowledge of our parish, discernment of the bishop nominees, and our commitment to prayerfully seeking God’s guidance in all we do. We invite you to join us and ask that you engage by:
• Praying daily for all involved and that we may receive a faithful pastor who will guide, equip,
and care for us in our ministries.
• Visiting the webpage DioceseFL.org/Bishop-Election often, subscribing to the monthly “Diocesan Digest” and email updates, and following the Diocesan social media channels.
• Attending one or more regional “Meet & Greet” sessions with the nominees in August.
More details coming soon!
• Contacting any of us or our clergy with your questions and thoughts.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, to pray, to learn, and to lend your voice during this important season in the life of All Saints and the Diocese of Florida.
Faithfully,
Laura Beran
