From Bishop Jim Adams
Well, it is going to happen. Beginning soon you will be able to come to Church, call the Church office, have someone go to the hospital, stop in and visit at the Church during the week and talk to your pastor. And when asked, "who is the priest at All Saints?", you can answer the question simply, "Our Rector and priest is Father Christopher Wilkerson.” Thanks be to God!

As most of you know I came a little over a year ago, for three months to be your supply priest. We have been together for the last 12 or 13 months and things have changed from time to time, as my time, your needs and circumstances happened. That always is the case in a Church which is alive. But the one thing that should not always change is the priest. But now it is and I pray you should not have to see another change for a good long time. But other things will change, which will be forward looking and growing, as change happens. As it always does. Gone is the time when some people went to Church “because it is always the same”. We have learned the alive, growing and active congregations are always being changed. Growth can not happen without it and it is the Church’s mandate to grow the Kingdom. And our part is the Church.

It has been my honor to serve you in a limited capacity, and it will be an honor and delight to see you all again. But for a while it will not be on a regular basis and I expect no calls for pastoral or liturgical reasons, except for prayer. It was always my conviction, as a Diocesan Bishop, to never allow a priest to appear at a Church they have served, for a goodly period of time when the new priest comes. And then only as the priest and Bishop request. Bishop Matt agrees and so I will see you once or twice before Fr. Wilkerson comes. I have new friends at All Saints and many old friends from when I was around in the 1980s. Stacey and I cherish everyone here at All Saints and we will continue to pray for you and this mission of God’s Kingdom in Appleton.

May God’s blessing, mercy and grace be always upon you all. +Jim

For anyone wishing to help with the event or to RSVP, there are sign-up sheets on the bulletin board next to the library, or you may contact the Parish Office at 920-734-3656. We will be putting packages together again this year on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 12:30-2:00pm (please note time change) .

If you have a student that we should send a package to or would like to partner with us as a donor (financial or in-kind items), coming to help pack the boxes, or help deliver/mail packages, please contact Erin Wolf at asygappleton@gmail.com . If your student is receiving a package, please include any necessary dietary/allergen information so we may plan accordingly. Thank you!

Message from the Finance Committee
Change In Law That Affects Tax Free Charitable Contributions

If you are at least 70 and 1/2 and have a Traditional IRA from which you must take an annual Required Minimum Distribution (also called an RMD), you may be able to take advantage of a change to the tax laws which allows you to make tax-free contributions to a church or other qualified charitable organization as part of your RMD.
Under previous law, you would have had to pay income taxes on the full amount of the RMD and then may, or may not, have been able to take a tax deduction for the charitable contribution. Under the new law, part of your RMD may be distributed directly to a qualifying organization as a charitable contribution. As long as the contribution goes directly from your IRA administrator to a qualified charitable organization and does not pass through your hands, that portion of your RMD will not increase your taxable income.
Please consult your financial professional and/or tax advisor to see if this provision might be of benefit to you. And remember: it is very important to ensure that your donation does not pass through your taxable account by mistake.

Way of Love Revival Preparation Prayer

Almighty God, Giver of every good gift: Bless the Episcopal Diocese of Fond du Lac and surrounding communities as we plan for the October 26 Way of Love Revival. Equip and empower the teams preparing for the Revival. Give them strength and clarity to do your will. Give each one of us courage to reach out to our neighbors and friends inviting them to the Revival so that all may know the power of your love and forgiveness. Bless Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and other leaders with a Spirit-filled message that will be truly heard. May this Revival be the impetus to relight the fire in our churches and in our hearts so that we may live even more into our Baptismal Covenant. All this we ask in the name of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.  Amen.
