BCS Family,

We are excited to welcome our families, new and veteran, to school year 2022-23!! This year brings with it an added celebration as it marks the beginning of our 50th year in existence as a school! We have so much to praise the Lord for including our forward thinking leaders who started BCS all those years ago. Our heritage is rich.

Our theme this year will be based on Psalm 100:5, which states, "For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. It is humbling to remember how faithful He has been to Blackhawk Christian School through all our generations. Throughout this school year and the summer of 2023, we will have various activities honoring this anniversary and will communicate further details to you as the year progresses.

It has been a very busy summer at BCS! We have much to be thankful for again this year:

  • Maintenance has been busy around the buildings with deep cleaning and refreshing our buildings.
  • Brand new playgrounds with new equipment and 98 tons of rubber mulch have been assembled, placed, and waiting for our kids!
  • School offices have been preparing for your return.
  • God has provided new faculty/staff in a challenging workforce environment.
  • For all our teachers and staff that have served faithfully ministering to our students and each other.
  • We have two new buses!! One seats 29 students and one seats 44! We can now accommodate more students on our bus route, field trips, and athletic events! For both new and existing families wanting to utilize the transportation program for the 2022-23 school year, please review the updated pricing and handbook on our website under transportation. Please sign and date the agreement on the last page of the handbook and return it to your school office.
  • As part of our 50th year celebration, we are making plans for 50 service projects in which our students will serve throughout the Fort Wayne area. We are excited to share Christ with our community!

Opportunities to serve and support BCS throughout the year:

  • With help from reNEW, our BCS Endowment is over $750 thousand! This endowment will bless students in the future and is a way to give to BCS. Remember to donate and volunteer at reNEW! It will be a rewarding experience.

  • Join the Kroger Community Rewards program if you shop at Kroger. This program allows BCS to receive a percentage every time you swipe your Kroger Plus Card inside the store. To register your card go to and select:

  • My Account
  • Community Rewards

  • Enter BCS # "10509"

  • One of our two big fund raisers that we host each year is our annual BCS Dinner and Auction. The 2022-23 dinner and auction is Saturday, November 12th. We will be highlighting and celebrating our 50th Anniversary as a school! If this is your first year at Blackhawk or you are a veteran family, we would like to engage a group of about 15 parent volunteers to help make the event successful. The last two years we went virtual, and this year we are looking forward to returning to the Mirro Center for an in person event! Please email Marilyn Knuth, if you have interest in joining the team.
