Our Lady was blessed with the support of more than 30 teenage volunteers who assisted with various projects in the cemetery and office on Friday, October 25th. These students, who are dedicated to community service, are affiliated with FISCHETeen (Families in Support of Catholic Home Education for Teens).
Volunteers were organized into groups tasked with cleaning the cemetery grounds, mulching pathways, ensuring trees were well-maintained, and verifying that all temporary crosses were level and secure. The compliance team focused their efforts in the Holy Family Garden and the St. John Paul II Garden, removing any items that violated the cemetery's rules and regulations. Unfortunately, there was not enough time for the volunteers to tend to the Marian Garden, the St. Francis Garden, or the Forest Garden during this visit.
Items removed from the plots have been placed into clear plastic bags, each labeled with the corresponding family name and garden. These bags are located in the carport adjacent to Our Lady's office, located at 431 Berry Lane, and are available for collection at the family's convenience. The bags are organized in the designated areas for the Holy Family Garden and the St. John Paul II Garden.
The cemetery grounds are drier this year due to reduced rainfall. It is important to inform your family, relatives, and friends that glass items and candles are not allowed within the cemetery as they present safety hazards. Numerous beer and small alcohol containers have been discovered on burial plots. Our Lady Cemetery enforces a strict no-alcohol policy to maintain the sanctity of these consecrated grounds as a tranquil haven for prayer and remembrance of the departed. We respectfully request that gatherings involving alcohol take place in personal or private areas, not within the cemetery.
