Back to School & Mental Health

As we head back to school, let's remember that mental health matters just as much as grades! Did you know that in 2021 more than 4 in 10 (42%) students felt persistently sad or hopeless and nearly one-third (29%) experienced poor mental health? Let's create a supportive environment together!

One month until the 2024 Mental Health Matters Walk/Run for Awareness!

Join us on Saturday, September 7th at UNC-Asheville's campus for a day of fresh air, exercise, and music! Mental Health Matters Walk/Run for Awareness is a family-friendly event that aims to end the stigma around seeking support for mental health challenges and will feature a community resource fair with representatives from many wellness and mental health organizations in WNC. All funds raised will support the work of All Souls Counseling Center.

This event is free to participants ages 22 and under. Registration is $20 through September 7th and includes a t-shirt, however we encourage you to sign up by August 16th to guarantee your t-shirt size! We encourage you to form a walk/run team! Registration fees are non-refundable and this event will be held rain or shine!

Huge thank you to our Presenting Sponsors First Bank and Mission Health, as well as our Media Sponsor WLOS TV-13, and the many other sponsors and community partners who make this event possible! If you would like to learn more about becoming a sponsor, please contact Mary Waller, Development Director, at mary@allsoulscounseling.org.

Linked 4 Life's HOPE Bus opens on the South Slope at Bear's Smokehouse BBQ!

Exciting News! On July 4th, Linked 4 Life's HOPE Bus opened to the public! The HOPE Bus is a reimagined former food truck at Bear's Smokehouse in the South Slope district at 135 Coxe Avenue. It is a place for people to share messages of hope and demonstrate their commitment to breaking the stigma of mental health.

Visitors can make a $6 donation and receive a pair of Linked4Life blue carabiners - metal clips that symbolize the power of connection. You keep one, and the second comes with a tag so you can write a message of hope to display in the HOPE Bus.

This new initiative will support Asheville’s food and beverage workers with a mental health peer support network and up to six free counseling sessions at All Souls Counseling Center.

ASCC Team visits RHA's Neil Dobbins Center and Behavior Health Crisis Center

Our team was invited to tour RHA Health Services C3356 Comprehensive Care Center! We learned so much about their programs that are available to individuals in need of immediate access to assessment, crisis stabilization, peer support services, pharmacy services and follow-up support, and connection to important resources in the communities.

The Behavioral Health Crisis Center (356 Biltmore Avenue) is now open 24/7/365. You can reach the BHCC directly at (828) 210-2651.

ASCC Donor Appreciation

Our Spring Appeal was a blooming success! Thanks to our many faithful supporters - as well as new donors - All Souls Counseling Center reached our goal for gifts during the 2024 Spring Appeal. With the incredibly generous help of a foundation and two individual “match” challengers - plus everyone who contributed gifts toward this campaign - we raised just over $30,000!

Haven’t donated yet? August is a terrific time to put that call on your heart into action! Every gift makes a difference!

Green Ribbon Society (GRS) membership reminder. Planning to renew your GRS membership, or wish to become a first-time member? Now is the best time. Supporters who donate $1,200 or more each year (the average cost of therapy for an individual or couple for six months) become a part of this group of foundational funders. To learn more about membership and benefits, visit https://allsoulscounseling.org/greenribbonsociety/.

PS, join GRS just in time! New and newly renewed members will have the opportunity to attend our Summer 2024 Green Ribbon Society gathering later this month. To receive your invitation, join GRS by August 21st.
