April is Stress Awareness Month: Prioritizing Self-Care for Mental Wellness

Stress is a natural part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can take a serious toll on both the mind and body. Chronic stress has been linked to anxiety, depression, headaches, digestive issues, high blood pressure, and even a weakened immune system. That’s why self-care isn’t just a luxury—it’s a necessity.

Prioritizing self-care can help manage stress and improve overall well-being. Simple practices like deep breathing, regular exercise, quality sleep, and setting boundaries can make a big difference. Connecting with loved ones and engaging in activities that bring joy also provide emotional relief.

If stress starts to feel unmanageable, you don’t have to face it alone. Seeking professional support can help you develop healthy coping strategies and regain balance. All Souls Counseling Center is here to provide affordable mental health care—because your well-being matters.

Green Ribbon Society Reception at Terra Nova

Board members and staff of All Souls Counseling Center gathered for a botanical brewery-themed evening on Wednesday, March 26 to express gratitude to our 2024-2025 Green Ribbon Society members – those individuals, couples, foundations, and businesses who comprise the All Souls leadership giving circle. During this first GRS reception of this year, more than 55 friends and partners met at Terra Nova Brewing Company for a lively conversations, new and renewed connections, savory appetizers from Mission Pizza, and to hear guest speakers discuss the unique recovery work and experiences of ASCC clinicians “in the field” between October 2024 through January 2025.

We are incredibly grateful to First Bank for making the energy-filled evening possible as our 2025 Green Ribbon Society events sponsor. Rusty Edwards, the bank’s Senior Vice President and Regional Executive, shared personal perspective on why he is committed to ensuring mental health services are accessible to all as well as how First Bank’s focus on and investment in vibrant and healthy communities aligns with services and outreach of ASCC.

Our staff, therapists, and Board are deeply grateful for the generous support of our mission by each and every Green Ribbon member and their trust in our organization to see their inspiring gifts and sponsorships be leveraged for the critical work of mental health counseling, training, and education in WNC.
