Arlington Police Department Engage in Active Assailant Training

The Arlington Police Department participated in Active Assailant Training at Marysville Getchell High School with local organizations as part of the City of Arlington's dedication to public safety. The Arlington Police Department worked alongside Lake Stevens and the Marysville Police Department during this training.

During assailant trainings, police officers practice responding to a simulated attack safely, and securely. In order to be better prepared for a critical incident involving an active assailant or shooter, it is important to create a plan for what to do in that situation. These training sessions help to empower communities and schools for potentially life-threatening situations when active-assailant threats are present in real life.

"Active assailant situations are dynamic and evolve rapidly, demanding an immediate response by the community and first responders. Active Assailant Training stresses the importance of collaboration and interoperability, which gives first responders the confidence to respond and take action under the most stressful circumstances to help save lives while stopping and preventing further harm," said Chief Police Jonathan Ventura.

We must all work together to keep our neighborhoods safe. It is essential to inform state and local law enforcement of suspect behavior. Please remember to speak out if something doesn't seem quite right and to call 911 if you have any concerns.
