On Wednesday, October 14th, The DSC celebrated one of the most amazing sailing days we have had in recent memory.

Our 10 Hansa-Access "Schooners" participated in a parade of sail to mark the start of the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race. Though many of the Chesapeake Bay Schooners have been downrigged or stuck in dry dock this season, Duncan Hood's ADVENTURER made the short voyage up from Annapolis to join in the fun.

Our Hansa-Access Schooners were helmed by sailors who represented all of the colors of the rainbow (just like the colorful boats themselves). It was a truly amazing day and one that we look forward to replicating in the near future.

Special thanks to Stacy Spaulding for planting the seed, Duncan Hood for his enthusiasm and support, and Rena Kazmierski for her clarity of vision.

ADVENTURER is over half-way to achieving its fundraising goal for The Downtown Sailing Center. The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race (GCBSR) is "Racing to Save The Bay!" and in that vein, the Virtual Schooner Race has shifted its efforts to raise funds for local nonprofits that care for and support Bay stewardship.

The DSC was honored that Duncan would choose The DSC as ADVENTURER's fundraising recipient. We are truly grateful.

I know it has been a busy, and very generous, fundraising season. However, in the spirit of competition and in the quest to support our allies, please consider donating - if you are able - to the Virtual GCBSR.

May the best schooner win!

We hope ADVENTURER wins the virtual race. Our great sail on Wednesday was a victory for all involved.
