Now that summer is finally here, let the SunSHINE! Our great days have been busy days filled with friends and tons of fun!
Our
gardens are in full bloom with seasonal produce such as squash, tomatoes and cucumbers almost ready for the picking - and eating! We're also using fresh vegetables during our culinary arts adventures with
Chicopee Farm to School Program. To recognize the hard work and dedication of
first responders, we delivered handmade gifts and treats to local fire and
police stations.
Our Litwin Campus field is also getting a lot of use with
kickball and lawn games. Stay tuned for the late summer date of our first ever
Sunshine Village Movie Night under the stars on the field.
To thank them for their dedication, our Litwin Center Program delivered a retired fire hydrant hand painted with an autism awareness theme to the Burnett Road Chicopee Fire Station.
In honor of
National Police Week, our Springfield Program and Main Street Chicopee Program presented
local police with homemade treats and artwork.
In the Community
Our Community Engagement Program attended a screening of "
Be Safe: The Movie" to learn how to safely interact with first responders in an emergency.

Our Main Street Chicopee Program has been tending to their garden at
Chicopee Community Garden. After getting tips from fellow
gardeners, they are already seeing peppers and tomatoes growing strong.
Our Litwin Lane Program has been successfully tending to their seedlings of herbs, vegetables and flowers in both raised beds and traditional gardens. Now, the plants are producing delicious additions to their culinary arts cooking lessons.
Our Community Engagement Program made the most of a sunny day and enjoyed a kickball game with friends on our Litwin Campus field.
Our programs' partnership with
Chicopee Farm to School Program included a sea food taste test and
fish tacos with salsa made fresh with vegetables from our gardens.
Our Community Engagement Program's afterhours "
Masquerade Ball" Spring Fling included dressing up, a delicious dinner, and dancing to the DJ with friends!
Congratulations to our Community Engagement Program on receiving their
certificates for completing another year of dance lessons with
Ohana School of Performing Arts. We all enjoyed seeing their hard work come to life at their recital!
Employees with 10 or more years of service at Sunshine Village were honored at our annual
Memories & Milestones Dinner.
Those with 30 or more years of service received a coveted logo'd umbrella.
This year, we proudly gave: seven awards for reaching 10 years of service, nine awards for 15 years of service, two awards for 25 years of service, and one award for 30 years of service.
NicholeChilson and Tiffany LaFreniere received our annual
Accorsi Award Scholarships to pursue higher education goals.
Executive Director, Gina Kos, presented each graduate of our Leadership Training Programwith a certificate to recognize their personal and professional growth during the year long program.
Our Director or Community Relations, Amie Miarecki, received a
BusinessWest 40 Under Forty Award to recognize her accomplishments and commitment to the community.
