The Rev. Deacon Paul Anthony Daniels, ordained to the transitional diaconate on June 6, 2020 in the Diocese of North Carolina, joined the Congregation of St. Saviour at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine as a part-time clergy assistant. His ministry is especially informed by the imperatives of spiritual and political liberation in the tradition of Jesus’ healing ministry (Luke 4:18). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Morehouse College (Atlanta, GA), a Master of Divinity from Berkeley Episcopal Divinity School at Yale University (New Haven, CT), and is currently a PhD student in Systematic Theology at Fordham University (Bronx, NY). His research rests at the intersections of Theology, Black Study, and Queer of Color Critique, with special attention on the corpus of 20th century theologian and mystic Howard Washington Thurman.
