Looking back at 2022, all of us at the Crisis Center are reminded of the generosity that allows us to help so many survivors of domestic violence. We cannot do our work without you. We wish you a safe, happy, and healthy New Year!

Celebrating the holidays at the shelter brought lots of smiles thanks to some hard working elves (also known as our shelter staff), those who supported the Adopt-a-Family and Holiday Gift Drive programs, donated meals, treats and party supplies, and yes – a visit from Santa!
|
This year, the Adopt-a-Family and Holiday Gift Drive directly benefitted 40 families (116 clients) at the Crisis Center.
Our annual Holiday Appeal was kicked off by a record-setting Giving Tuesday that generated almost $20,000 thanks to the matching gift challenge offered by Board member Derrick Lott and his wife, Chris, who operate Lott McDonald’s Restaurants. As of today, the Holiday Appeal is about $10,000 away from it’s goal of $110,000. Funds raised are helping us expand shelter and other essential services to meet the growing need for domestic violence services in the south suburbs. It’s not too late to help!

Kaitlin Bishop-Salem is a new volunteer for the Crisis Center’s 24/7 Hotline. She wanted to give back to the community and find a way to help others. She has a background in the arts as a professional modern dancer for many years with Margi Cole’s dance company, the “Dance Colective.” Currently she lives on the south side of Chicago with her husband and children. She loves her time at the Hotline supporting clients and connecting callers with resources. Welcome Kaitlin!

ENGS Day of Giving Back
Almost 40 volunteers from ENGS Commercial Finance Company (a group company of Mitsubishi HC Capital) participated in a day of giving back earlier this month. They assembled furniture for the new shelter bedrooms and new Tranquility Room, painted, created wall art to showcase employee photos, and so much more. They also donated bedding and other supplies to support our work with survivors of domestic violence.
Thank you!

The Orland Park Vikings U15 hockey team collected dozens of gift cards to help our clients. The U16 and U18 teams took part in an informational meeting with our Director of Clinical Services, Megan McShane, and our new Prevention Coordinator, Samantha Norris. These young men also took part in a special service project to benefit victims and share information about resources. Thank you to Andrea Joy, manager for the U18 team, for organizing this event.
