All in Bloom at FaithHopeandFiction.com

Up the hill from our house here in Oregon, a narrow path leads from the street. The first fifty feet or so are nondescript: woodchips, tall grass, a few scraggly oaks. But around the bend and into the woods, another world awaits. Houses disappear, and cars fade into a distant murmur. And the wildflowers bloom. This time of year, the trail is dotted purple—from royal tones to pale lavender—as the wild iris spread their delicate petals. Then there is red columbine, wild lupines, and the unfortunately named hogweed with its huge clusters of tiny white blossoms. Knowing that spring flowers never last too long, I spend as much of my free time as I can along that trail—drawing inspiration and comfort from nature in all her colors, variety, and grace.
