All is well...

All is well!

A message from Father Brian:

As you might have already heard on social media or even the TV news, the steeple at

Grace Episcopal Church

and the Incarnation

was struck by lightning Monday, July 25th around 4 pm.  It caught on fire.  We still do not know what the full damage is yet.  There is a lot of water damage inside... yet, the Altar, baptismal font, and other of our sacred items are safe.

We thank God that no one was in the building at the time and no one was hurt during this sad event of nature.

As Christians of the Jesus movement in the Episcopal tradition, believe with all of our hearts that God loves us and God loves all that God has created!  This was not an act of God or anything else telling us anything... it was just a very sad event.  Nevertheless, we have worked hard over the past three years to improve our worship space.  And it is painful to see how temporal our world can be.

Yet, as God has promised us, God will always be with us; in the good times and in times of trouble.  And at least for me, I have seen the hand of God in so many things since this has happened.  The fire department people that came to save our space from more destruction.  Members of our community that have already reached out to see what they can do.  Other faith traditions that have offered assistance.  People from around the country that have already donated funds to help us with the insurance deductible and other expenses.

But most of all I have seen God in each of you!

And I am so grateful to God that each of you is safe.

Yes, there have been some that have been unkind on social media.

But I was reminded in the readings from Morning Prayer this morning that even Jesus was mocked as he hung on the cross.  So, all I can say is that the God we follow is a God about LOVE!  So, do not be drawn into what the world says, but to what Christ has shown us and how Christ teaches us how to live!

I will update you with more information about what is going on as it comes to me.  But know this, this will not stop our mission of love, inclusion, and service to all people!

Church will be at 9 am this Sunday!

Inside the parish hall (if we are able)

or

Dress comfortably... I know I will be!

If you are worried, please call me.
