For Everybody
Worship this Sunday, April 11, 10:00 a.m.
First Steps

Happy Easter! While such a greeting will quickly fade in most places, the reality is that Easter is a 50 day season of the church. It takes awhile to let the reality of Easter sink in. So you can really confuse your neighbors by continuing with that greeting for another few weeks! As we progress through the season of Easter, we will talk about some of the "First Steps" we can all take to embody the resurrection of Jesus in our lives. This week, Mike will address the "first step" of understanding the difference between resuscitation and resurrection - a super important distinction!

The 10:00 service will be on-line for the rest of April, but be looking soon for an email with our plan for meeting again in person.

Be with us as we explore the joy of Easter and how to take the first steps of embodying the resurrection for the world. It will be valuable time that will sustain your soul. The online service will premier at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, of course, and you can find the service on our YouTube Channel, here.

Celebrating our Third Graders on Bible Sunday

This is a special service as we celebrate our Third Graders being honored with their Bibles this week at the 9:07 Faithful by the Fireside service. This will wrap up our season of looking at faith practices for families as we learn about the faith practice of reading the Bible. We will be meeting for about 20 minutes following the service to learn more about our Bibles. Everyone (adults and children) are encouraged to bring their own Bibles and we will share the special role they play in our lives. We meet outdoors in the Close for our worship service. Mask up, bundle up (if needed) and join us....around the fire.

If you have a Third Grader, or an older child who has not yet received their Bible, please sign up at this link!
Upcoming Newcomers/New Members Sessions
Sundays, April 11, 18, 25, 11:30 a.m.

Interested in learning more about Union Church? Or "making it official" and becoming a member? We warmly invite you to participate in our next round of sessions for those new to the life of Union Church. We'll meet on April 11, 18, and 25, from 11:30 - 12:15, on the playground at church (masked and distanced), to make it easy for the kids to play.

The sessions will introduce you to our perspective and priorities, a touch of our (progressive!) history, how we get things done, and how you can get involved in fellowship, growth, and service.

Please RSVP to, or ask questions of, Membership Ministry chair, Anna Glowiak. We look forward to connecting with you!
Holy Week Wrap Up
A Thank You Note

Thank you so much to everyone who pitched in to make our Holy Week and Easter worship life so meaningful this year!! Thank you to our staff, to the crowds and young "performers" who joined us for the 9:07 service, to all who contributed a video “Easter Message,” to the Music Ministry for baking and passing out communion bread, to Union Bells and Chancel Choir, to the Worship Ministry for the important detail work, and to everyone else that contributed to our services. We are grateful for you and appreciate your help in creating meaningful worship services.

A Bridge of Blessings
Helping Children Share Their Gifts!

We have an ongoing children’s music opportunity, “A Bridge of Blessings”. This program is helping our children learn how to share their gifts, and connecting the youngest members of our congregation to our older members in the 10:00 a.m. service. Each participant submits a short recording of themselves doing an activity they love. Children can offer their gifts in the form of a song to sing, dance, instruments (piano, guitar, violin, etc.), scripture reading, poetry, and more! Then we use those recordings to be a blessing during our 10:00 a.m. online service. Gina Graffagna, Assistant Music Director, will work one-on-one with each of the participants, helping to choose their "gift," and teaching the importance of using our gifts as a blessing to others. If you’d like to participate, please email Gina. Be a bridge of blessings!

Before We Get to Mars Update
What Is the Importance of Quality Early Childhood Education?
Continuing the Conversation - Before We Get to Mars
The Dollars and Cents Side:
  • Quality ECE programs mitigate the high cost of potential future educational remediation and lowers dropout rates.
  • By preparing children with cognitive and social skills needed for school readiness, we are closing the achievement gap, the significant and persistent disparity between students from higher and lower incomes.

The Common Sense Side:
  • The foundational impacts on children 0-5 years have a lasting impact on their lives and future generations.
  • During the first five years of a child’s life, 90% of a child’s brain architecture develops, forming the foundation for all future learning.

What an exceptional way to make a significant difference-for society and for individual lives!
