Adult Discussion Group

Continuing to unpack the topic, Living a Christian Life, we will be exploring ancient and contemplative forms of prayer which were the practices of Jesus. We will read about the specific places and times that Jesus prayed. We will learn about how the practice of Christian prayer has changed and deepened over the millenia. We might even discover ways that we can pray here and now, so that we might be more in the flow of God’s love, and grow and mature as followers of Jesus. Pastor Jeff will lead us in this conversation. All are welcome! No experience necessary.

We’ll meet in the Asbury Room after worship.

Library News

November is Native American Heritage Month, and our library cart features several books about Native Americans. While many of these stories describe sad events and abusive treatment of the American Indian, you can find uplifting stories about Massasoit, Squanto, the Wampanoag Nation, and others in Mayflower (by Nathaniel Philbrick), This Land is Their Land (by David Silverman), and They Knew They Were Pilgrims (by John Turner). Each book shares a common story of the First Thanksgiving and the incredible hardships, and uncertainties, the Pilgrims faced in the 1620’s.

If you have any comments or questions about our library, contact Ron Yarger at ryarger@optonline.net

Whether you’re brand-new to the Bible or know it inside and out, you’re welcome! The group is exploring and discussing the book of the prophet Isaiah.

To receive the Zoom information, or if you have any questions contact Associate Pastor Rev. Sharon Yarger at scyarger@optonline.net.

Hope to see you there!

Faith Formation

Sunday Morning Faith Formation

Whirl Kids (4th grade and younger) meets the second and fourth Sundays of each month during part of the 10:00 am worship service. Children leave the worship service after the scripture reading and are led down the hallway to Classroom 6. Parents and other adults from our congregation lead the group in singing, Bible reading, a fun video and activities related to the day’s scripture reading. Parents/caregivers pick their children up at the conclusion of the worship service.

Middle School (grades 5-8) meets each Sunday at 11:15 am in the Library. Under the leadership of Matthew Beland, this group explores the day’s scripture reading through conversation and activities designed for growing together in our faith

High School (grades 9-12) meets each Sunday at 11:15 am in the Wesley Room. Under the leadership of Pastor Sharon Yarger, the group gathers for conversation around the day’s scripture reading and current event topics, as we seek to grow together in our faith

Altar Flowers

We encourage all to sign up on our Flower Calendar

(located across from Pastor Jeff's office) and help to beautify our Sanctuary on a Sunday morning of your choosing.

You may either request an arrangement provided by

Sunnywoods Florist, at a cost of $50, or provide the flowers yourself. Flowers may be dedicated in honor or in memory of special person/s

or a special occasion.

After the service, you may take the flowers if you wish, or the Congregational Care Ministry Team will deliver them to homebound or hospitalized CUMC folks, as an expression of God's love, and ours.
