The Adult Discussion Group will not meet this Sunday so that we can assist with decorating the sanctuary for Advent after worship.
On the following Sunday, Nov 30th, we will be led in our first Advent session by Prof Karen Smith. We’ll be using “Voices of Advent” by Matthew Skinner. The book, available on Amazon, highlights the voices of Jesus, John the Baptist, Mary, Zechariah, Apostles, and Prophets, showing how their voices, and responses to God, shape our understanding of Advent. Skinner’s Introduction sets the stage by offering a history of Advent, describing how Advent is not just for Christmas, and suggesting how we can wait during Advent.
Join us after worship in the Asbury Room!

The Sunday group will be using Voices of Advent by Matthew Skinner.
| This study examines Advent through the voices of Jesus, John the Baptist, Mary, Zechariah, and the Angels and Prophets. The book examines the scriptures to consider how they lead us to reflect on God, set our priorities, and celebrate Christmas at the end of Advent (from the Preface). Voices of Advent is available in paperback and e-book formats on Amazon. | | | The Monday group will be using the resource Living Well Through Advent 2025: Practicing Generosity with All Your Heart, Soul, Strength and Mind. | |
The booklet offers daily devotional readings and generosity-inspiring questions that will help prepare us for the true meaning of Christmas.
Living Well is available as an e-book on Amazon, and in digital and print formats at LivingCompass.org. All are free or at a very low cost. Free print copies will also be available in the church office beginning Sunday November 23

CHATHAM HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS | This modern, lively adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice gives the classic a fresh, feminine, and playful twist while keeping all the beloved characters intact—with a touch more sass and spice. The story follows the four Bennet sisters in their spirited pursuit of wealthy husbands, but Elizabeth “Lizzy” Bennet stands apart. Sharp-witted and independent, Lizzy refuses to settle for a loveless marriage and delights in mocking the social games around her. When she meets the seemingly cold and arrogant Mr. Darcy, she instantly dislikes him—but as their paths intertwine, Lizzy learns that pride, prejudice, and first impressions can be deceiving, and that true character lies beneath the surface. | |
