The first program of the new year of 2025 in our sanctuary will be hosted by the Suburban Music Study Club on the evening of Monday, January 6th at 7:00 PM with Merynda Adams, harp, Jonathan Morales, voice, and Peter Hill, piano. The performers will play gentle music by candlelight to usher you into the new year. There will be an opportunity for members of the audience to light a candle.

All are invited to this free recital of hopeful, classical music.

Star Words for 2025!

As part of our worship experience on Sunday morning, January 5, 2025, we will invite worshipers to come to the chancel rail to pick up a Star Word. These words might be a way that God affirms, challenges, invites, and or blesses our awareness and journey for the new year. These will be turned over on the chancel rail so no one will see the words that they pick, until they pick them. If you would like one sent to you via email or snail mail, please contact Pastor Jeff at revjmarkay@earthlink.net

Adult Discussion Group

This week we conclude our study of Peace. What have you noticed about peace in your life? How do you foster that peace? What changes have you, or will you, make in practicing peace?

Join us in the Asbury Room after worship at 11:15 AM

Next week, we’ll resume discussing the week’s gospel lesson.

CUMC Happenings

Sunday Morning Faith Formation

Whirl Kids (4th grade and younger) meets the second and fourth Sundays of each month during part of the 10:00 am worship service. Children leave the worship service after the scripture reading and are led down the hallway to Classroom 6. Parents and other adults from our congregation lead the group in singing, Bible reading, a fun video and activities related to the day’s scripture reading. Parents/caregivers pick their children up at the conclusion of the worship service.

Middle School (grades 5-8) meets each Sunday at 11:15 am in the Library. Under the leadership of Matthew Beland, this group explores the day’s scripture reading through conversation and activities designed for growing together in our faith

High School (grades 9-12) meets each Sunday at 11:15 am in the Wesley Room. Under the leadership of Pastor Sharon Yarger, the group gathers for conversation around the day’s scripture reading and current event topics, as we seek to grow together in our faith
