Pray for the Lambeth Conference

The Lambeth Conference is a decennial assembly of bishops of the Anglican Communion convened by the Archbishop of Canterbury. This is the fifteenth Lambeth Conference, and it is meeting in Canterbury, the United Kingdom, between 26th July – 8th August 2022. Our own Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, and Diocesan Bishop, John Taylor, are joining their fellow bishops from around the world to prayerfully consider the future of the church.

Justin Welby, The Archbishop of Canterbury, selected the theme for the conference: “God’s Church for God’s World.” Each day, the Lambeth Conference will combine a program of Bible Study with discussions on key themes in the life of the church including Mission and Evangelism, Anglican Identity, Christian Unity, Inter Faith matters, Discipleship, Safe Church, Reconciliation, Human Identity, and Environment and Sustainable Development. The outcomes of the conference will shape the Anglican Communion in the decade ahead.

Please pray for this important gathering. You can follow developments on Facebook or Twitter. You can also download a prayer guide at Lambeth Conference Prayer Guide.

Here is a prayer for the Lambeth Conference based on the Book of Common Prayer (p. 818):

Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel at the Lambeth Conference for the renewal and mission of your church for your world. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Contact legislature to support 9-8-8 National Lifeline
988 is an easy to remember three-digit phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, providing call and text services for people in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors.

AB988, the Miles Hall Lifeline and Suicide Prevention Act, will significantly enhance the new 988 call number by connecting callers with around-the-clock intervention, including mobile crisis teams staffed by trained mental health professionals and trained peers instead of law enforcement.

The Diocese asks you to write to law-makers in advance of Monday's Aug. 1 state senate appropriations committee meeting.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
