Volunteer at the Quilt Show

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Georgia Celebrates Quilts! Everything that goes into Georgia Celebrates Quilts, from Quilt Drop-Off to Take Down relies on ECQG Volunteers! Click here to go to SignUp Genius. Only four committees are filled - so you have lots of times and areas to choose from!

If you're new to the quilt show, or if you'd like to try a different area this year, here's a Volunteer Summary of all the shifts that are needed during Show Week.

Please check that your signups don't overlap. SignUp Genius doesn't alert you if your shifts conflict - Quilters are smarter than SignUp Genius! Click here for the CORRECTED Volunteer Worksheet to help you prevent confusion.

You do not need a SignUp Genius Account to sign up. Quilt Show signups are only for guild members.

If you've convinced a family member to help us during Set Up, Quilt Hanging or Take Down, please contact Mary Duncan, our show volunteer coordinator.

We need you - White Gloves

Our largest sign up is for White Gloves - This year, the shifts for White Gloves (WG) volunteers is only 1.5 hours, compared to 2.5 hours in the past. We've also reduced the number of WG volunteers after 2:30 because our visitor traffic is much slower.

Because the shifts are shorter, we have five shifts each day, and the very last shift is only one hour long.
If you can work two WG shifts in addition to other volunteer shifts over the course of the show, we'd be in great shape!

WG volunteers walk around the display area on the lower level, keeping a watchful eye on the quilts and offering visitors a peek at the back of a quilt by turning up a corner (with a gloved hand, of course). Not all of our visitors will know how quilts are made, so you may be answering few questions. Surrounded by the amazing artistry as you walk among the quilts, it's fun to stand by your own quilt and enjoy people admiring your hard work!

These volunteers also pass out ballots for the Viewer's Choice voting. The winner will be announced at the June ECQG meeting.

White gloves and aprons are provided at the show.

I submitted my Quilt Entry - What's next?

Georgia's quilters have really been busy! At the close of Quilt Entry, we had received 466 quilts! Jurying has been completed and by May 3rd, all entrants will be notified of their status. If you have not received anything from us by then, please contact Carolyn Powers at quiltentry@ecqg.com, no later than May 5th.

Join Terrazzo On the Road!

Angela Raymond will be setting up and taking down the booth at both events. Please support the Quilt Show by selling tickets at one of these events. All shifts last 2.5 hours

April 21 -Cobb Senior Expo at the Jim Miller Park in Marietta from 9 am to 2 pm. We will also be showcasing the placemats we make for Meals On Wheels. Click here -Cobb Senior Expo

May 2nd - A great day to be in Carrollton - The museum is hosting Quilts Japan and holding a fabric sale while we're there! And it's Mayfest; we should be busy! Click here - Southeastern Museum of Quilting and Textiles

Coming Soon - Quilt Store Special Edition

When visitors come to our show, we offer a room full of quilts and quilted items ready to take home! There are two ways to offer your work for sale in the Quilt Store.

  1. Donate a quilt or quilted item for sale. All proceeds go to the Guild.
  2. Sell a quilt or quilted item on consignment.
  3. All items must have either a commission contract or donation form attached to the item when it is delivered to the Civic Center. Quilts do not need a hanging sleeve.

Some ideas for quilted items:

  • Sets of placemats or bowl cozies,
  • Quilted bags or clothing
  • Quilted pillows
  • Wall hangings
  • Table runners
  • Other items that would sell for at least $20
