Multicolor Rooster

(Non-Stamp)

Category: Handmade Birds/Animals

Dear Elisa,

Happy Friday! I noticed I was low on Chickens and Roosters and found this image which I was inspired to design. It is not a stamp but may have been a vintage playing card I had in my collection. It had a fall feel to it signaling a change of direction and seasons. I am looking forward to wearing yummy sweaters and making hearty soups so feel free to send me recipes! I have some fun inspiration for you this week, so I hope you'll read on!

Did you know that linen is a high-vibrational fabric that is guaranteed to uplift your mood and vibration? It's a fact. If you are feeling weary and need a high-vibrational antidote, consider wearing more linen.

I've always loved wearing linen and I love cutting up linen to use in my cards - it's my go-to fabric as it unravels well. If your world is unraveling, you could try this simple hack to see if your mood lifts and you feel lighter.

I love wearing linen because I often feel unraveled and rumpled and since I'm not good at ironing, it stylishly works for me. While I do love and get immense comfort from my "UGG" fleece throw and sweater jacket, I recently looked at the label and saw they were made from polyester which happens to be a very low-frequency material. So buyer beware! Wearing clothing that has natural healing properties built into them is of interest to me. Luckily, living in California allows me to wear linen more months out of the year than most. Here's the data!

The following is an excerpt from the Salts & West clothing website:

"Linen is yet another one of our favorite ethical fabric alternatives. Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant and is commonly referred to as, "The healing fabric," or the "preferred fabric" for a healthy lifestyle and there are a few reasons why that is.

Linen clothing is scientifically proven to assist in all types of healing. In the past, the restorative properties of linen were acknowledged by its preferred use as the material that bandages were made from. Linen naturally flights against different types of bacteria and fungi, and Flax is found to be a very effective barrier to some diseases. Hospital sheets used to use linen fabric because it was widely known to be the best for healing and protection against infections."

I hope this helps!

Here's a little extra Friday inspiration from a Facebook post I saw from The Humble Gardner which I just loved!

"Your time on Earth is limited. Don't try to "age with grace"

age with mischief, audacity, and a good story to tell."

So that's what I'm doing. One of the items that was on my "66 New Things to Do during my 66th Year" was to go back and take voice lessons. I hadn't gotten around to it and now I finally booked a lesson for myself next Wednesday...stay tuned!

I'm always in search of good theatre and since I haven't been able to get to NY, I've had to scrounge around LA to see what's out there.

I went out to the La Mirada Center for the Performing Arts to see "WAITRESS" last Saturday night – as a friend highly recommended it and it was closing. I had never been out to this beautiful Equity theatre space now run by Cathy Rigby and her husband, Tom McCoy. It took about an hour for me to get out there as it's in Orange County – but I snagged a last-minute orchestra ticket for $80 and off I went. I was told to get there early as they have a huge parking lot in front of the theatre which does fill up. It was a delightful surprise to find out it was free and there were no valet/parking attendants, stairs, or giant parking structures which I appreciated!

Many of the cast members had impressive Broadway credits. The La Mirada's next production will be Fiddler on the Roof starring Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor, Jason Alexander ("Seinfeld") who will be playing 'Tevye' from Nov. 8th to Dec. 1st. I hear this is going to be a popular event - so if this interests you, grab your tickets ASAP! Note: these tickets are substantially more expensive because they will have a full orchestra and Jason is a well-known star.

A Blast from the Past...

And, because I am planning to drive down to Escondido for my Art show this Sunday, I decided to stop in San Diego to catch this Saturday's last matinee of "Murder on the Orient Express" at the Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park. One of the cast members is Ellen Harvey - a successful Broadway actress who happens to be the daughter of my married college professors from the San Diego State University Drama Department where I attended college from 1974-1978.

Ellen's parents, Dr. Michael and Dr. Anne-Charlotte Harvey, will also be in attendance to see her perform and I haven't seen them in over 40 years! Ellen reminded me that I gave her her first job on television and I honestly can't remember what that was! I'm looking forward to seeing them. I don't know if her parents will remember me but I'll let you know next week!

HERE'S YOUR REMINDER THAT THIS SUNDAY I WILL BE AN EXHIBITOR AT THE ART in the GARDEN in ESCONDIDO

Art in the Garden will be held in the Heritage Garden in conjunction with the

Grand Avenue Street Festival

WHEN: This Sunday, October 20th

TIME: 9 am - 5 pm

BOOTH SPACE: #132

WHERE: Heritage Garden 122 W. Juniper, Escondido, CA

The Art in the Garden Booths will be now located between Centre City Parkway,

Orange, and Grand Ave. On the map provided below you will see a row of booths on the left side of the map which say #120 - #136.

The Layout is a little different than in recent years when we were by the Gazebo because of the current construction on Grand Avenue. Because of this, the entire Festival has been shifted West and will be held in the blocks from Kalmia to Center City Parkway. This will be a whole new layout for Art in the Garden – and so you can find us off of West Grand between Center City Parkway and Orange. Look for the Escondido Arch. Below is the Booth Map which we were told is not drawn to scale. If you plan to attend and can't find us, try my cell: 323.839.0128 or Carol Rogers (the promoter) at 760-715-4958.
