"Documentary Filmmakers Meet Up: Let's Get Real!" a networking event hosted by director Cheryl Eagan-Donovan at the SXSW 2026 Film Festival Conference.

Documentary filmmakers, directors, producers, crew, writers, and funders are invited to share strategies, challenges, success stories, and new ideas for bringing untold stories to screens big and small. Open to makers at all career levels, this is an opportunity to be inspired by one another and create partnerships to support independent nonfiction filmmaking at a time when demand is at an all-time high but funding is quickly disappearing and we are all looking for ways to survive in an industry that is under attack.

Eagan-Donovan has written, directed, and produced three feature-length documentary films. She teaches writing, film, and literature at Lesley University, provides professional script consultations for screenwriters and producers, and has been a judge for several screenwriting contests and fellowships. She has been an active member of the independent film community for over 20 years. She has conducted extensive research on the Shakespeare authorship question, the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, and the origins of the Golden Age of theatre in 16th century London.

All the World’s A Stage focuses on Shakespeare and the development of modern theatre in Elizabethan London, and celebrates the power of theatre to change the world. This event will enable us to promote the project, find new collaborators, and meet potential funders, but we need your help! Every panel needs a combination of audience votes, staff recommendations, and subject area experts' approval to be chosen for the conference.
