OKK9 AWARDED PETCO FOUNDATION GRANT
Ozarks Kat and K9 is thrilled to announce that we are the recipient of a $5000 grant investment from the Petco Foundation (soon to be renamed "Petco Love") to support our lifesaving work for animals in the Lake of the Ozarks.

Petco Love is a nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since their founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, they have empowered organizations with nearly $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. They have also helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations, like ours, nationwide.

“On behalf of the Ozarks Kat and K9 Board of Directors, staff and volunteers we would like to thank the Petco Foundation for the grant of $5000. We appreciate the partnership we have developed with Petco and these funds will go directly to taking care of our animals, rehabilitating them and finding their forever homes,” said Mark Engstrom, OKK9’s Board President.
THRIFT STORE NEWS
The thrift store was closed for a week in March for cleaning and maintenance and for our seasonal changeover. A huge thank you to Aaron and Leann McDaniel from McDaniel Janitorial in Eldon, MO for the wonderful job they did on the cleaning and buffing the floor. It's so shiny!

We would also like to thank Evergreen in Osage Beach, MO for donating six pallets of merchandise to our store. Sales of those items will go a long way in helping to support the animals of OKK9.

Summer merchandise is now out on the floor. Stop by to check out all the goodies before you hit the lake!
NEW DONATIONS TO KEEP OUR DOGS COMFY
We recently received a very generous donation from Animal Rescue Aid in the form of 20 Kuranda dog beds, 7 huge boxes of blankets and a large box of Kong toys.

Animal Rescue Aid is a registered 501(c)3 based out of Jasper, Georgia whose mission is to make it possible for every rescued dog, in every shelter across the United States, to have a comfortable bed and enrichment items. They believe - as do we - that items such as beds and toys help reduce the stress and anxiety often felt by shelter animals so that their true personalities can shine through to potential adopters and increase their chances of finding homes. Their motto is "Give them a hint of home - while they wait for theirs."

Since 2010, Animal Rescue Aid has raised funds to provide over 3,500 shelters and rescue organizations with pet beds to comfort animals and help save lives. We are greatly appreciative of everything they have done for our animals!
Help with spay & neuter costs for low income pet owners is available through our financial assistance program, with surgeries primarily done at Lake Dog and Cat Veterinary Hospital in Laurie, MO. Call 573-552-7743 and leave a message for information and referrals. Your call will be returned as soon as possible.

PEOPLE OF OKK9 - VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
(by Angi Uber, Shelter Manager)

This month, we would like to spotlight our dedicated thrift store volunteer, Vickie Keller. Vickie moved here from St. Joseph, Missouri and has been with us for 12 years and counting. She is a down to earth, goodhearted, self-motivated, and task oriented lady who we consider a gem worth holding on to. She works in all areas of our store, organizing and decorating to bring out the best for our customers. Vickie also handles many of our maintenance needs in the thrift store. She works countless hours, quite often 7 days a week, and worked all through the Covid shutdown helping with painting and rearranging. We enjoy her sparkling energy and funny personality as much as our customers do. Thank you for all you do, Vickie!!
COME JOIN OUR FACEBOOK FUNDRAISING GROUP
There are fun and games aplenty in our fundraising group on Facebook! We have already completed several raffles for some terrific prizes. Come join us for chances to win while helping raise money for the animals of OKK9. Some events will be open to local members only, but we have plenty of things planned that will include our supporters that live away from the Lake area too.

COMMUNITY BARKS AND MEOWS
Between driving around animals and participating at events, our transport van was getting pretty icky! Thank you so much to Trent Clayton at Dynamic Pro Detailing for making our van spotless both inside and out and adding a ceramic coating to help keep it pristine. Trent worked with our non-profit organization on pricing that wouldn't break our budget, so our animals once again have a vehicle that they can be proud of riding around town in!
OUR ANIMALS THANK YOU!
