THRIFT STORE NEWS
This past year has been a challenging one with the pandemic and all of the changes that has caused. Through it all, however, the Thrift Store has been blessed with continued donations from our supportive community and has maintained a high sales volume, setting a sales record in June.

As 2020 is coming to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers who work endlessly to make sure that merchandise is sorted and put out on the sales floor.

Some of you may not realize that we only have 2 paid positions at the store, our full time manager and our part time retail associate. All other workers you see in the store are volunteers who donate their time and energy to help keep things running.

Volunteers worked hard during the store shutdown in March cleaning the floors and making repairs. Staff and volunteers worked together to reorganize and stock the sales floor in preparation for reopening in May. Customer reactions to the reorganization was very positive and complimentary. Countless hours go into maintaining the store so that our customers have a good shopping experience, finding those bargains.

Proceeds from store sales go to support our no-kill shelter. By operating primarily with volunteers, we have less overhead and are able to funnel more money to support our shelter.

You've heard it said that "it takes a village". We are very blessed indeed to be a part of this village. Thank you to everyone for helping us achieve our mission.

During this holiday season, we wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Low cost spay & neuter assistance for low income individuals is available through our Murphy's program, with surgeries primarily done at Lake Dog and Cat Veterinary Hospital in Laurie, MO. Call 573-552-7743 and leave a message for information and referrals. Someone will return your call as soon as possible.
VOLUNTEER & STAFF HOLIDAY RECOGNITION MEAL
*ATTENTION ALL ACTIVE 2020 VOLUNTEERS AND CURRENT EMPLOYEES*

Our Christmas party may have been canceled, but the Board of Directors of Ozarks Kat & K9 still wants to recognize and thank all of our active 2020 volunteers and current employees with take-home meals and a gift for all the hard work put forth during this crazy year.

Please come in to the shelter or thrift store no later than Tuesday 12/15 to sign up. You will receive 2 boxed take-home meals catered from your choice of Woods Supermarket on Thursday 12/17 or The Branding Iron on Saturday 12/19. Meals will be available for pickup (along with a small token of our appreciation) at the thrift store building between 12:00 - 1:30pm those days.

We understand that many of our volunteers have not been able to help out recently due to Covid-19. If you have been actively involved at the shelter at any time during 2020 you are eligible to participate.
DUE TO COVID-19 THE OZARKS KAT AND K9 BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS VOTED NOT TO HAVE A CHRISTMAS PARTY THIS YEAR.

PEOPLE OF OKK9 - VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
(by Angi Uber, Shelter Manager)

This month we would like to introduce our fantastic volunteer, Sherry Barthol. She has a heart of gold and shares her love with our furbabies. She’s been dedicating her time to our cause almost daily since October 2019. Sherry stays fit while getting our dogs out for brisk walks, and is a dedicated member of our Dogs Play For Life team who conducts daily playgroups for our adoptable dogs.

Her love of animals extends to our feline population also, where she gives our floofy adults cuddles and enrichment time in our community cat room. In February 2020, Sherry opened her home to become a permanent foster mom for our cat Millie, who has special dietary and medical needs. Sherry has been a weekender at the Lake area for 12 years, and moved here full time just 3 years ago. We are so grateful to have been blessed with her commitment and compassion.

*COMMUNITY BARKS & MEOWS*
December 1 was the global day of charity, known as Giving Tuesday. At a time when we are all experiencing the chaos of the current world, generosity is what brings everyone together. Generosity gives everyone power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is something we all can act on.

Ozarks Kat and K9 is honored to have received $2075 in donations from Facebook fundraisers during this event. That amount is not including any matching funds from Facebook, which will not be reported to us until January. We appreciate every one of you who contributed to our cause!

OUR ANIMALS THANK YOU!
