Sharing Our Faith - Our Lady of Guadalupe
Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico City
December 12th is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. May the beautiful Virgin of Guadalupe pray for all of us during this season of Advent that we may grow closer to her Son an imitate her devotion and obedience to God.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas and the Unborn, pray for us!

Financial Responsibilities

A friendly reminder to all families who are making tuition payments on the 5th of the month that payment is now past due.
Thank you to all families who have been able to catch up on their tuition payments!
We are so grateful that you value your child's Catholic education and make your payments so that our teachers and staff can receive their salaries. Thank you!
Please note the Tuition Policy found at the end of the newsletter.
Christmas Program
Our students are practicing for one of our favorite events of the year- the annual Christmas Program. Be sure to mark your calendar for December 18th. Students will be dismissed at 1:45 and will need to return to their classrooms at 6pm. Teachers will inform their classes of the attire for the evening. The Program begins at 6:30 in the church. With a mix of fun filled Christmas songs, the presentation of the Nativity, and the Grand Finale Carol Medley, this concert will truly put you in the Christmas spirit. Admission is Free but all families are encouraged to bring canned goods to donate to the parish food pantry.
Parents' Night Out - Great Success!
Just over 30 of our students enjoyed a fun evening at school while their parents got a few hours to themselves. Thanks so much to our awesome team of Parent Board members who hosted the event. We hope to do another one in the Spring!
Murder Mystery Night Coming Soon!

All parents, family and friends are invited to our MURDER ON THE MENU event. Come out and help 'solve a murder' on January 12, 2019. St. Ignatius Development Board is presenting a fun evening of dinner and interactive theater. We will have 'special guests' at this event and one of them will not live through the night! It will be up to us to solve the mystery from the clues given by the remaining 'guests'. Information about this event will be sent home. Be sure to come to this fun night and make it a great success. Funds from this event will be used to help pay for the infrastructure upgrade being done to support the use of more technology in the classrooms.

Booking Guest Speakers Now!
If you would like to speak to our classes about your job, or know someone who would be willing to spend some time at our school telling our students about their careers, please contact Ms. Maryellen in the school office. She will be scheduling guest speakers for Career Day which will take place on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Our students love career day and are inspired by our guests to consider new jobs and career opportunities.
VIRTUS TRAINING

Parents who plan to volunteer at school during the coming school year must be Virtus trained. Virtus is the child safety training program that all adults who work and volunteer around children at church or school must complete. It focuses on appropriate interactions with children. There is no cost to you. Virtus certification must be updated every four years through a 1 1/2 hour re-certification class. You must complete Virtus 1 before doing a re-certification. The safety of our children is extremely important to all. Please be sure to attend a training if you plan on volunteering/helping out at school.

To find locations for Virtus training please click on the link below and scroll to (Archdiocese of) Los Angeles location. St. Ignatius falls under the San Fernando Region, but you may attend a Virtus class in any of the five Regions in LA County.

Please be sure to obtain a certificate and bring it to the school office so we can make a copy for our files. All Staff, Parent Board, Room Parents, and Volunteers must be Virtus trained for the safety of our students.
Did You Know? ... Delinquent Tuition Policy

Each family signs a contract for tuition which is confidential between the school and the family. Each family receives a copy of the contract. Each family has the obligation to pay the amount on the signed family contract. The following tuition policy is in place and will be more closely enforced beginning in January. Our school cannot remain open with out YOUR SUPPORT and TUITION PAYMENTS!

  • After one missed tuition payment, the office will send out an invoice and an email to remind the parents/guardians of the missed tuition payment.
  • After two missed tuition payments, the office will call the parents/guardians to remind them of their missed payment, develop a payment plan for the past tuition owed, and set a date for payment within two weeks of the missed payment.
  • If the payments are not made on the date set by the principal and parents/guardians, the student will need to remain home until the payments are made and the account is up to date. The principal will contact the parents/guardians to request that they keep their child(ren) at home.
  • If the issue persists, delinquent payments may result in late fees and in serious cases, dismissal of the student from the school. Parents may be asked to meet with the financial committee made up of the principal, office manager, and bookkeeper, in order to develop a plan to meet their obligation to the school.
  • Parson-Bishop Services, Inc has been contracted to serve as our collections agency out of justice to the school. Report cards and transcripts may be withheld until all financial obligations to the school have been met. Archdiocesan policy prevents other Catholic schools from admitting families with delinquent tuition accounts.
