The latest news from Eden House...

Eden Emergency Center

Grand Opening!

We did it!!! Eden Centers for Hope and Healing is very excited to announce that our new Eden Emergency Center is open! The Grand Opening took place on Tuesday, January 24th as staff, friends, and community organizations joined together to celebrate this monumental moment. The event included speeches from Peggy Babin, Interim Executive Director, Kara Van de Carr, Founder and President of Eden Centers, and Greg Feirn, CEO of LCMC Health as well as a prayer from multiple denominations led by board member Reverend John Pitzer of Trinity Episcopal Church. Thank you to everyone who attended and all those who supported us in this process.

Special Thanks to

Speaking of support, we have a few people we would like to recognize.

A HUGE shout-out goes to outstanding volunteers Julie Miller Hart, Peter Enersen, and Kim Singletary for their work on the facility. These three angels graciously donated their time in the form of VERY long days over a three week period to ensure our guests at the Eden Emergency Center would have a welcoming space to come and heal. Truly, we could not possibly list everything they did for the EEC as the scope is so wide but let's just say they left every day with sore muscles and clothes spackled with paint---and Home Depot greeted them by name. Our facility would not be what it is without these three people!

Thank you to volunteer Mina Jalali Hogan for bringing to life our Love, Hope, Healing greenery wall. (In the pictures below). It wasn't an easy job to determine the blueprint for this project but leave it to Mina to find a solution and to enlist the help of Peter for the skeleton structure. And now the guests at the EEC have a beautiful inspirational installment to enjoy in the gathering room.

To someone who spent numerous weekends transforming the clinical feel of each bedroom into one filled with warmth, thank you Shann Phillips. Who knew that wallpaper accent walls could make such a difference? We dare you to find a seam! It's a little known fact that Shann is the mother of our beloved Clinical Director, Jennifer Best. It's truly a family affair around here.

Thank you to Winnie Brown and Dana Hansel for being our event specialists for the Grand Opening. These women put their heart and soul into making the event special for all our guests who were excited to tour and learn about the facility. Thank you for your dedication!

Last but not least, thank you to board members, family members of staff and the fabulous Eden Centers staff for their support and hard work. We have a great village!

Galentine's Day

Eden House Residents enjoyed celebrating Galentine's Day with each other. With some sweet treats and heart-shaped glasses the group showered each other with love for a special day! Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Epiphany Throws

Epiphany Throws is an organization that noticed the large amount of plastic waste that occurs during the Carnival season. To help prevent such waste, this group creates sustainable Mardi Gras throws made from recycled fabric. Eden House partnered with Epiphany Throws to create these braided necklaces. Our residents enjoyed creating such beautiful, sustainable necklaces for the Mardi Gras season! We hope you were able to catch some of these at the parades!

Prevention: Women's Health Webinar

The National Healthy Start Association hosted a webinar this month with speaker Jennifer Best, Clinical Director of Eden House. She spoke about human trafficking, specifically what are the signs, who are the perpetrators, and how to report. Thank you to the NHSA for hosting and helping us to continue our mission of prevention.
