Seems like ages since 70 of us gathered at the Surf Club for drinks, eats, and
camaraderie in interesting new surroundings. While the visit was happening, most of the
complaints we received regarded the lack of mingling. Given that we have fewer
events, please consider (the next time you are sitting at a table with your close friends)
sharing some time with those you don’t know as well. Newer members may not feel
comfortable approaching a large group. I encourage you to try inclusiveness. New
friends await.
Education and cultural history were demonstrated at the Hula and Juneteenth events.
This month, you have Opera and Museums to select. Because of the HOT,
HOT Summer, we’ve tried to plan indoor and out-of-town activities. The Social Planning
Committee has developed innovative and far-reaching ideas. If you’d like to contribute,
contact Sharon S. or Debbie P.
FYI, many venues are now charging an occupation fee, over and above our food and drink
expenditures. This presents a challenge for finding interesting places to go. We’re
planning an August ‘GALS & PALS’ Happy Hour at a NEW venue, September Game
Day, October Meet-N-Greet. and our fabulous 50 th Anniversary Dinner Dance in
November. These present many opportunities to volunteer to help make these activities
enjoyable for all.

I trust you all are well, though several of you have had surgeries and unexpected
medical events. Please contact Lauren F. if you have or are aware of such events, so
that we may be of service to our sisters. Call someone who may be homebound, just to
check on them.
