Welcome to Spring!!!
2025 General Business Meeting
Seventy of us enjoyed the 2025 General Business Meeting for the election of our new Executive Board (and a lovely lunch, of course).
I want to acknowledge the outgoing Officers and thank them for their service to us.
As most of you are aware, we experienced a rather tumultuous start to 2024, marked by several unexpected changes to the elected officers. Pam D. was a steady presence throughout the trying time, pedantic discussions and many compromises every Board endures. She has served often and long over 35+ years.
Connie W. filled in admirably as Corresponding Secretary, while cheerily serving as your Member Liason. She sent out all newsletters, event flyers, etc., as well as Birthday/Get Well/Sympathy cards. She deserves a well-earned rest.
Notwithstanding a fractured left foot, a severely-injured right ankle and a complete relocation of her residence, invaluable Sheridan H. enjoyed being Treasurer so much that she has agreed to continue.
Judith O. also served through several illnesses, hosted a couple of successful LA events, and is determined to contribute to increasing non-desert membership by planning more city Educational/Cultural events, like the Museum tours.
Lindsey J. agreed to step in mid-year to shepherd Membership activities and grew by 11 new members. She has added a high level of enthusiasm to this important effort, and renewals stand at 120. New membership is required to ensure the healthy continuation of The Women's Company.
Lastly, Mary Lou B. reaffirmed her commitment to TWC by following her 3-year service as Executive Chair by shouldering the huge task of Social Chair. She soldiered on through lung surgery and related illnesses, while caring for the almost-daily needs of a close friend, and always with a smile. Catering to the social desires of 130 independent women can be both frustrating and rewarding. She performed tirelessly and has earned a battery recharge.
Election of officers resulted in the Executive Board for our milestone 50th year!
Our commitment to you is to provide enjoyable social events, as well as care and concern for your individual needs and situations. Several announcements were made at the meeting regarding: our desire to renew the CARES Committee, launch of a second Transitions group (meetings by ZOOM), and our 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance on November 22, 2025.
These activities provide ample opportunities for you to volunteer to help. Please do!
In Sisterhood, Karen C.
