A word from Brockville General’s Diagnostic Imaging team

Our goal at BGH is to provide our community with access to quality care close to home. With the growing demand for non-invasive diagnostic procedures in our region, this MRI project is a reflection of our commitment to you. Many of us know someone whose treatment has been delayed because of long MRI wait times at organizations over an hour away. Our hope with this project is to transform local healthcare by providing you with timely access to this important service. Of course, none of this could have been possible without our community’s support for which we are eternally grateful for. For all of you who continue to believe in the importance of this project, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

- Denis Arseneau, Manager, Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiovascular services

I feel very lucky to have been selected by BGH to train in MRI. I am excited that I will be able to help our community by performing MRI exams locally. I am looking forward to a long, rewarding career in our new MRI department.

- Nicole Jones, Medical Radiation Technologist

Thanks to our Friends for this massive fund-raising effort in support of the Palliative Care Service at Brockville General Hospital.”

Jim Cooper, event co-chair, added “It is very heartwarming to see what an exceptional group of volunteers, staff and incredibly generous people can do to bring our community together for the benefit of our community.”

The event had a split tee start to accommodate the 270 golfers who showcased their skills and sportsmanship on the course. It featured exciting contests, including the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin competitions, creating an atmosphere of friendly rivalry and camaraderie. We even had a hole-in-one winner!

Over the past 30 years, the Friends of Palliative Care Golf Tournament has raised over $4 million dollars, all in support of the Palliative Care Program at BGH. These funds are dedicated to improving the lives of patients and families facing serious illness through palliative care services.

The Brockville and District Hospital Foundation is immensely grateful to the event planning committee and volunteers for their unwavering commitment, which has contributed to the continued success of this event.

Celebrating Albertina Connors: The Annual Family Ribfest

In loving memory of their cherished family member and friend, Albertina Connors, the family continues their heartwarming tradition of hosting the Family Ribfest each year. This event serves as a touching tribute to Albertina's memory and brings the family together in a spirit of love and support.

This July, Pat Klimtschuck paid a visit to our office, bearing the generous proceeds from this year's Family Ribfest. Their contribution is directed towards the Your Health Your Hospital MRI/Equipment Campaign, which aims to provide Brockville General Hospital with a much-needed MRI machine.

Pictured here is Joan Simon and Pat Klimtschuck.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Pat and the entire family for their unwavering support. Your dedication to honoring Albertina's memory while contributing to the betterment of our local healthcare system is truly commendable. Thank you for making a meaningful difference in our community.

Honoring Uncle Ray's Memory: Aubree and Grady Spicer's Lemonade Stand

In 2022, young siblings Aubree and Grady Spicer initiated a heartwarming tradition by setting up a lemonade stand in memory of their beloved uncle, Ray Place, who had passed away in August of that year. Determined to continue this meaningful tribute, the pair once again took to their lemonade stand this past August.

Their unwavering commitment to preserving their uncle's memory and making a positive impact on their community is truly inspiring. In their recent lemonade stand endeavor, Aubree and Grady successfully raised an impressive $250, which will be dedicated to supporting palliative care services—an initiative that holds special significance in memory of their dear uncle.

In the photo, we are delighted to capture the moment with (from left to right) Trish Buote, Executive Director; the enthusiastic young duo, Grady and Aubree Spicer; and Joan Simon, Manager of Major Gifts and Donor Engagement.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Aubree and Grady for their generous donation and their enduring commitment to honoring their uncle's memory. Your compassionate efforts are a testament to the enduring impact of love and family bonds, and we are immensely grateful for your contribution to our cause. Thank you, Aubree and Grady, for making a difference in the lives of those in need.

Art in the Garden

On a sun-soaked Sunday, July 30th, the Garden of Hope in Maitland, Ontario, became a canvas for artistic expression. This vibrant gathering, known as "Art in the Garden," transformed the serene gardens into an artistic oasis.

Local artist, Barbara Patrick, graced the event with her creative brilliance, showcasing her remarkable artwork. What makes Barbara's contribution even more extraordinary is her unwavering dedication to the community. Barbara Patrick donated a substantial sum of $1,660—a staggering 50% of her art sales—to support the MRI fundraiser for Brockville General Hospital.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Barbara for her immense generosity and commitment to the well-being of our community. Her contribution is a testament to the power of art and its ability to bring about positive change.
