SENIOR PASTOR'S MESSAGE

Greetings Friends,

This Sunday, we will gather for All Saints worship, remembering members of our church community who have died in the past year and giving thanks for the lives we have shared. There will be time to hear their names, hold their loved ones in prayer, and remember those we each carry in our hearts.

Whether your grief is recent or years old, or you simply need a place to be with others, you are welcome. Come join us for worship.

Grace & Peace,

Patrick

Get Ahead

for the Holidays

Did you know?

  • 20% of GHS students (about 600 kids) qualify for free or reduced lunch.

That is one out of every five GHS students.

  • Our GHS Community Pantry now serves nearly 150 students,

averaging about 100 visits a week.

  • SNAP benefits can’t be used for essentials like

laundry detergent, shampoo, or feminine products.

  • The GHS Community Pantry is the only pantry

specifically helping our GHS students and their families.

As the need keeps growing, we’ve expanded to three days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Now we need your help to make sure our shelves stay fully stocked. We are kicking off a pre-holiday drive to carry us through the busy holiday season. Our goal is to raise $2,000 and clear our Amazon wish list!

There are two easy ways to give:

Donate through the PTA website

Cash lets us buy fresh produce and fill the gaps week to week.

Shop our Amazon wish list

Items ship straight to school. Every single item helps.

Thank you for taking care of our GHS community!

Moral Mondays

Moral Mondays take place every Monday at 12:30 at the Stamford courthouse and offer a visible, interfaith space for prayerful presence and public moral witness when justice and human dignity feel under threat. In our local community, we gather for faithful witness to Immigrant Justice in our neighborhoods and nation.

For ongoing updates and coordination, colleagues and community members are also welcome to join our Moral Mondays Facebook group HERE

HAPPENINGS IN OUR FIRST CHURCH BUILDING

STICK YOGA: Saturday mornings, from 10.30 - 11.30 am

FREE TRIAL CLASS for members of First Church and after that $20 per class.

Bamboo stick yoga is a captivating fun way to explore stretching, balancing, conscious breathing and coordination, using a long light (bamboo) stick. It improves spatial awareness, posture, mobility and a mind-body connection, releasing stress. Supporting flexibility, stability and ease in our bodies, appropriate for any age. Some movements come from a Qigong method.

Please bring a yoga mat, and a yoga stick. You can purchase one online (e.g. the Karma Heart Yoga Stick), or make one, or use a broomstick. The stick should be approximately as tall as you. It could also be helpful to have a blanket if you like support for your head or knees. Email teacher Herma Janssen for more information: herma26janssen@outlook.com

TAI CHI: Monday or Thursday (with advance sign up). All monies go directly to First Church. Please sign-in before class.

Contact Will Morrison for more information: wdmorrison@gmail.com

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING

Your Parish Nurse, Sue Asselin, is available for blood pressure screenings and health consultations following today’s worship service in her office to the right of the Auditorium stage.

Bring your little ones to church -

we completely EMBRACE them.

At First Church, we believe the way we welcome children in worship directly affects the way they respond to God, to the church, and to one another.

To welcome children as they are in worship, we have our PrayGround, located in the Chapel (front right side of the Meetinghouse), where children and others of all ages can engage in worship through movement, sensory materials, and prayerful play.

The presence of all God’s children is a gift to the church, which offers hope for all. Scan the QR code to access PrayGround FAQs and Helpful Tips.
