Stewardship 2026

In this stewardship season, I am contemplating a number to write on my pledge card.

Psalm 24:1 reminds us that everything in the world belongs to God. “The earth is the LORD’S and all that is in it, the world and those who live in it.”

Everything that I enjoy in life, like fresh air to breathe, water to drink, freshly picked blackberries, sunsets, my home, the money in my bank account, publications that I authored, etc. all belong to God. And I happily remind myself that I am a child of God.

God trusts that I will use the earth and everything in it wisely. And God trusts me to return a portion of what God has given me by giving to my church.

I know in my gut that the money I give WPC helps close the gap between the world the way it is and the world as it should be. God works to transform the world through WPC.

I believe that writing a number on my pledge card is an act of faithfulness to God, who has always been faithful to WPC and to me.

Session

The Westminster Session met for their stated session meeting on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 6:30 in Russell Hall. All Elders were present. A pre-session was held at 6:00 to review monthly financials, sign up for the elder-led worship service and Oct. 24-25 Presbytery meeting jobs and a first read of the WPC safety policy. Dick Hughes and Bill Faust led a discussion of the last chapter of the book Troubling the Water: The Urgent Work of Radical Belonging. The first focused discussion was on the session goals for 2025-2026: Developing new leadership with special emphasis on supporting families, children and youth and the second goal of improving communication within session and the congregation. The second focused discussion was on 2026 budget forecasting. The next meeting of session will be on October 15, 2025 at 6:30 in Russell Hall.

Before Worship Bible Study

The before worship Bible Study will begin on Sunday, October 5th at 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. We will be studying the Gospel according to Mark. I will be teaching it. Participants should bring a Bible with them to class. The sanctuary and Russel Hall have plenty of Bibles to borrow for classes.

Although this is an "adult" Bible Study, youth are welcome to join. Children are invited to bring coloring books or small toys when or if they accompany an adult.

Thanks,

Rosalyn
