Prayers Lifted on
Sunday January 14, 2024
During last Sunday's worship service, we received the following requests for prayers...
- Of gratitude, for the helpers and the peacemakers
- Of healing, for Mary C
- For Alex, as he continues to heal
- Bless Sami, as she begins a new chapter in life and ministry
- Of healing, for Ilona, who was just diagnosed with lung cancer
- For those who are facing medical procedures
- For those grieving the loss of a loved one
- For Ruby Savoie, who entered life eternal this morning. We grieve his death and give thanks for his life, that in Christ lives on
- Of gratitude to God for your faithful servant, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Last Sunday, January 14, 2024 was Sami Main’s last Sunday with us here at Chatham UMC. She has been the Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries since June, 2023. Since then, she and Johnny have become engaged to be married and are planning to move out of the area. We are saddened that she will be leaving ministry here at Chatham UMC but are happy for her bright and love-filled future. After worship, the congregation gathered around Sami in Rodda Hall for a prayer of blessing before enjoying some cake and wishing her well.

When Jesus said, “Come follow me. I will make you fishers of men”, Simon and Andrew left their nets immediately and followed Jesus. James and John left their father in a boat, then followed Jesus! What was it that caused these men (and perhaps some women?) to follow Jesus so readily? Come join our Adult Discussion Group this Sunday in the Asbury Room at 11:15 am. No experience necessary. The Case for Love
Tuesday, January 23, 2024
At 4.00pm or 7.00pm
The Chatham Interfaith Council meets together each month in our various houses of worship to pray, to share a meal, to plan and work together for the Common Good of all people in our community, especially those who are hurting. At our most recent meeting, we viewed a trailer for a new documentary entitled: The Case For Love. The documentary has been endorsed and promoted by the National Council of Churches of the United States of America, and features people of various backgrounds and affiliations, who are working to build bridges between people, and exhibit faithful love in very difficult settings. The Chatham Interfaith Council is encouraging our congregations to purchase tickets to see this documentary on the one night that it is being shown in movie theaters throughout the country: Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 4PM and 7PM. The closest theater that is screening this documentary is the Cinemark Theater located at 1670 US Route 22 East, Watchung NJ 07069.
