Adult Discussion Group

Sunday’s lesson is the familiar story of Nicodemus, a Pharisee who came to Jesus with a question one night, knowing that Jesus was a good and wise teacher.

Why did he come at night? If we are born of the Spirit, could that rebirth happen more than once? And what is that rebirth like?

Come join us in the Asbury Room at 11:15 AM after worship on Sunday,

and bring your questions!

One of the highlights was to participate in the ordination of Rev Sooah Na, who was a seminary intern here at Chatham UMC a few years ago. She is now the Pastor at Centenary UMC in Metuchen, NJ. Chatham UMC was well represented by our Lay Delegate Cheryl Chester. We also saw some other seminarians who have served here at Chatham UMC including Pastor David Gaitan, who is now pastor of the Trinity UMC in Ewing NJ. Community Events

8th Annual Jaime Pinaire

5K Race and Fun Run

Saturday, June 1

The Jaime Pinaire 5K Race & Fun Run is named for the son of Joan and Jim Pinaire, the founders of the James A Pinaire III Foundation. Jaime tragically lost his life in a terrible car accident in December 2014 on his way home from teaching Saturday classes at the Robert Treat Academy in Newark. His dad, Jim, is a valued volunteer at our Food Distribution on Wednesday afternoons.

Jaime played football and baseball during his time at Chatham High School. He remained an avid athlete throughout college and afterwards. He became interested in endurance events, particularly Spartan races. He completed a Sprint, Super, and Beast in one year to conquer Spartan's ultimate challenge — the Trifecta.

Holding a 5K race and Fun Run is a fitting celebration of Jaime's interests while raising money to continue his work in helping educate students with a financial need.  All proceeds of the race benefit the James A Pinaire III Foundation which provides scholarships to graduates of Chatham High School and the Robert Treat Academy.

The USATF certified 5K course is flat and fast, starting and finishing at Chatham High School on Lafayette Avenue, and passing by Jaime's childhood home and through the beautiful Rolling Hills neighborhood of Chatham. There are splits every mile and one water stop at roughly the half-way mark.

The 1 Mile Fun Run is on and around Chatham High School grounds and available for those who want a shorter distance. All ages are welcome!
