World Communion Sunday
October 1, 2023
Special guest preacher: Rev. Taka Ishii, retired United Methodist pastor from the New York Annual Conference, originally from Japan will preach. His text will be the beatitudes. If you would like to read one line of scripture from another language, please contact Pastor Jeff at revjmarkay@earthlink.net. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:4.
We already have people reading in German, French, Japanese and English. Other languages would be a real blessing!
The World Communion Sunday offering provides scholarships and leadership development opportunities for international students and U.S. racial-ethnic students who are pursuing advanced degrees. Gifts not only make an impact in the lives of individual students, but also the religious, social and civic communities in which they lead and serve.
These funds are administered by Global Ministries in collaboration with the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.

All Saints Day Service
Sunday November 5, 2023
Sunday, November 5, 2023 will be our All Saints Day Special Service at 10:00am. This is an ancient tradition in which Christians remember loved ones who have finished their courses in faith, and now live in the heavenly realm. We will light candles in their memory, speak their names, toll the bell, and give God thanks for their lives and their homecoming into Eternal Life.
Beginning this weekend, a list of names of loved ones is located outside the church Sanctuary. We invite you to add names to this list if your loved one is not on it.
This list will be outside the Sanctuary until next Sunday, October 29. Please call the church office at (973) 635-7740 or email adminassistant@chathamumc.org if you would like to add a loved one to this list but are unable to come to the Sanctuary. Please submit by Monday, October 30, 2023.

Whether you’re brand new to the Bible or know it inside and out, you’re welcome! We spend a little time checking in with each other, then explore and discuss a biblical text, then close by sharing joys and concerns and praying together. For further information, or to receive the Zoom link contact Pastor Sharon Yarger at scyarger@optonline.net.
We are looking for friends and members of our church to help welcome and greet the greater Chatham community for this. If you would like to help, please contact Pastor Jeff.
