Below is an introduction to the newest member of the CUMC team! Sami Main will be serving as the part time Director of Children's and Youth Ministry. Sami will be moving into the office that David Gaitan has used this past year. She will be working with Pastor Sharon in a transition time throughout the Summer and Fall regarding Christian education and faith formation plans for children and youth. We are grateful for the ways that Pastor Sharon stepped into the ministry with Children in the interim as the SPRC searched for the right person to do both ministry with children and youth. We are grateful to our Simpson Seminarian David Gaitan who took on the added youth ministry in this interim period as well. David will be appointed pastor of Trinity UMC in Ewing. We are grateful that Pastor Sharon will continue to be appointed by the Bishop to Chatham UMC as Associate Pastor.
Sami and Pastor Jeff are hoping to take a small team of youth to RISE from July 9-16. Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support for the ministries of RISE.
Welcome Sami!
"Hello! I'm Sami Main, a recent graduate from Union Theological Seminary's Master of Divinity program. I'm so thrilled to be joining the team at CUMC as your new Director of Children and Youth Ministry starting in June. I currently live in Short Hills with my boyfriend, Johnny, and our four pets: Benchley, Basil, Barbara and Bosco — when you meet me, guess who are the dogs and who are the cats.
During my time at Union, I had the privilege of doing my field education internship at Christ Church Summit with Rev. Julie Yarborough, where I worked with people of all ages to talk about God, theology, spirituality, and also about life's challenges and meanings. It is these skills and much more that I am excited to bring to this community as well. Prior to attending Union, I worked in the digital media field for five-ish years after graduating from the University of Florida's journalism program.
Again, thank you for welcoming me into this community — I can't wait to see what we'll do together. I'll be joining our crew of high schoolers on this year's RISE trip in July, and I highly encourage you to join if you haven't signed up already. It will be a really cool volunteer opportunity that I'm so looking forward to. Feel free to ask myself or Rev. Jeff any other questions about the trip. See you in June!"

The CUMC Church Council has voted unanimously to follow the CDC Covid Data tracker for Morris County to evaluate weekly Covid levels. This tracker is used to guide us in determining our indoor mask usage for all CUMC functions. Covid levels and recommendations are updated weekly on Thursday nights by the CDC. These updates will be used at CUMC from Friday-Friday and will state if masks required (high level) or optional (medium/low). You may check to see what the current Morris County Covid levels are prior to coming by clicking below.
