Blessing of the Backpacks

Sunday August 27, 2023

During service on August 27th, CUMC will have a Blessing of the Backpacks. All students, of any age, are encouraged to bring their backpack of choice for the upcoming school year for a moment of peaceful pause before the busy year ahead. There will be blank backpack tags for students to color, as well as some pre-colored ones for families to take. (Can't be there on the 27th? Or are one of our virtual members? Contact Sami to coordinate a backpack tag for your student. Email her at smain@chathamumc.org)

This weekend’s Sunday, August 6th, 10:00am service featuring Miriam and Sharon Yarger singing together the hymns, Be Thou My Vision and I Come With Joy. Join us!

The Ukulele Orchestra will next meet in-person and online Saturday, August 12th at 10:00am in the Asbury Room and on Zoom.

The next Summer Choir opportunity will take place on Sunday, August 13th. All singers are invited to practice an easy-to-learn anthem starting at 9:00am, before the service at 10:00am. All singers are invited! For more information contact, Peter Hill, music director at petepiano@mac.com.

Although the Adult Bible Study doesn’t meet during the summer, it’s good to listen to and read the scriptures during the week. In Sunday’s gospel lesson (Matthew 14: 22-33) Jesus walks on water and calls to Peter, who also walks on water. When does he falter? When do we falter? How are we caught when we start to sink?
