Dan supports congregations in their work with children and youth, convenes children and youth ministers from across the diocese, and oversees diocesan-wide children's and youth programming.

1) I have been in touch with Pat at St John's Catholic Church and we have chosen the week of April 10th to be our third and last hosting week for this shelter season. The week is already available in the sign up genie here. You may sign up in any open spots.

2) An important fundraiser coming up for Connections Shelter on March 31st. It is the first annual Kato Sleep Out. St. John's is not going to have a team of seven to register for the fundraiser as suggested or take a chance on sleeping outside, but we will be collecting donations through March 31st. Please drop off your donations at the church office or send to the church address PO Box 1119, Mankato, 56001. Checks can be made out to "Connections Shelter." Ramadan is the month of the Islamic lunar calendar during which Muslims abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset; in 2023 it falls between the dates of March 22 and April 21. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, and is performed to learn compassion, self-restraint, and generosity.

Taking Heart Open Houses is a long-running program coordinated by the Minnesota Council of Churches (MCC) and the Muslim American Society of Minnesota (MAS-MN); it was formed to bring Christians, members of additional faith communities, and people of no faith, together with Muslims for food and conversation during Ramadan. Minnesota mosques and Islamic community centers welcome their non-

Muslim neighbors for a traditional Iftar, inviting a time of encounter, conversation, and sharing a meal. The Islamic Association of Mankato is hosting Taking Heart on April 1, 7:15 pm; Wisdom House, 222 East Walnut Street, MN 56001.
