Welcome to our 2020 holiday update

To all our volunteers, supporters, sponsors, and patrons —  Wow. It’s hard to believe this curveball of a year is finally coming to a close. We’re excited to spill the tea on the Foundation’s proudest moments and what’s keeping us busy, and deliver virtual hugs.

Reports from the Classzoom Carla Duran Capellan, the Foundation’s first awardee, has successfully transferred from Middlesex Community College to a four-year degree program at UMass Boston, where she’s majoring in political science. Take a bow, Carla! We are so proud of you.  Our three sophomores, equipped with spiffy resumes, are drawing attention from prestigious corporations. Congratulations Malu Andrade on your offer from PwC! To those whose placements are in the works, you’ve got this. Our seven 2020 awardees have successfully wrapped their first semesters. These are bumpy times for colleges, yet our intrepid scholars are demonstrating how it’s done. Growth Spurt Despite the existential challenges of our times, we've continued expanding our reach in multiple ways: We are now partnering with Kappa Alpha Psi to reach and support young men of color. We have brought on two new corporate partners who are eager to host internships and mentor our scholars. Applications for the 2021 Anaya Tipnis Scholarship are now open. This coming year, we will award 15 additional scholarships which means we will be supporting a total of 26 scholars in 2021 (up from 1 in 2018)! The Foundation is changing lives and communities because of you. Thank you beyond words (and emojis). Save the Date!
