All things Christmas are here!

Although we won't be running our annual open house this year, we are already planning next year's event. Otherwise, it's Christmas as usual here in the greenhouses so stop by and check us out!

We have fresh outdoor greenery like branches, wreaths, garland and ready-made porch pots, hanging baskets, etc. Plus we can put together a custom arrangement for you, just ask an associate for more information.

Our indoor Christmas decor is arranged in three themes: Into the Woods, Traditional & Gnordic. Plus there's lots of flags, mats, lights and inspiration to help you get festive.

And of course, there's our famous poinsettias grown by our own wholesale division. Available in a variety of sizes and colours, they are the best around! We also have other festive plants like Christmas cactus, amaryllis, lavender trees, minature poinsettias, mixed planters and more.

We are stocked up with all things Christmas and ready to help you deck your halls!

Fresh outdoor greenery

The trend for decorating with evergreen branches is still going strong and it's easy to see why: it's gorgeous and lasts all winter on your porch with the right care! Here's a few tips to getting the most out of your winter greens.

  • Number one rule: treat your porch pot like a cut flower arrangement (because it basically is!) and keep it well watered until the pot freezes.

  • Avoid putting your decorations out until the weather turns cold. If you buy them early in November, keep them in a cool, shaded location and mist frequently until it's cold enough to display them.

  • Pots can simply be filled with any kind of soil to create your arrangement; floral foam is not necessary.

  • All branches should have a fresh cut just before using so they will "drink" more. Use sharp pruners to give a clean, angled cut.

  • When creating an arrangement, start with birch poles or any other large structure, like an obelisk and make sure they are firmly anchored. Add your tallest greens and long side pieces first, then fill in with shorter branches, cutting your branches into smaller pieces to maximize fullness.

  • Wreaths, swags and garlands should be kept cool and moist. Mist every few days until the weather drops to around 0°C.

  • Keep it simple or go all out... there are no rules for greens arrangements - if it makes you happy to look at, that is the main thing! Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration if you need ideas.

How NOT to kill your poinsettia before Christmas...

Bright light is best. Keep close to a window and move to a more suitable spot when you are entertaining.

Soil should be moist but not wet. Test with your finger every 2-3 days and water when the top layer of soil starts to dry out.

Keep away from cold drafts. Never put beside an outside door that opens often! Heat vents should not blow on them either.
