Cool Bible Picks

We always hesitate to recommend individual Bibles for purchase since so much depends on what the individual is seeking in a Bible.  Having said that we wanted to give you a few Bibles that have consistently good reviews and are rarely returned for defects.  We have made the list according to translation.

A.  Authorized (King James) Version

Allan Longprimer- Highland Goatskin (our most sought after Bible)  Cambridge Concord Reference (Goatskin) and Cambridge Clarion Reference - All 3 of these King James Bibles are excellent.  The TBS Westminster in Calfskin is a credible 3rd choice as well.

B.  New American Standard Version

At this point the Cambridge Clarion series rest on top this hill.  Its Wide Margins are also unparalleled.



C.  New King James Version.

Cambridge does a good job with its Wide Margin and Pitt Minion.  The Schuyler NKJV will be at the top of its class in January.

D.  English Standard Version

Lots of choice here!  At this point we like the Cambridge Clarion in Goatskin and the Schuyler ESV as winners in this class.  Other good but lower quality choices include the the Crossway Legacy in Cowhide, and personal size reference in Lambskin.

F.  Holman Christian Standard
Allan's HCSB as well as Holman's thinline in cowhide.


G.  New Revised Standard Version. 
Allan has the corner on this market.  Cambridge has a good runner up.  If you like this translation these are excellent books!



H.  New International Version
Allan has an excellent book block to work from here.    




I. Revised Standard Version
The parent translation to the ESV and NRSV - retaining archaic language - is still a favorite to many.  Oxford prints and binds this one in Hbk and Genuine leather. 

 

 

SCHUYLER AUTHORIZED (King James) VERSION 

 

FYI - SCHUYLER has made a contract with TBS to print and bind format with leather lined Cantara Goatksin.  It will be available in the spring of 2013.  It will represent the best of Bible binding and craftsmanship for the Authorized Version.  Schuyler fully intends to enter into the AV market with this being the 'first fruits' of what is to come.  Click Here for more information.
