A Message from the Executive Director:

Dear ACMS Members:

Historically, the voter turnout for the ACMS Elections has been very low, with fewer than 10% of members casting a vote. Let's make 2024 the year when your voice is heard. Here are some compelling reasons why you should take just a few moments to cast your vote for the 2024 ACMS Leadership:

  1. Representation: By casting your vote, you have a say in who represents your interests and makes decisions on your behalf within the ACMS. This ensures that the leadership reflects the diverse opinions and needs of the members.
  2. Accountability: When you participate in elections, you help hold the elected officers accountable for their actions and decisions. Your vote can influence the direction and policies of the ACMS, making leaders more responsible and responsive to members.
  3. Influence: Voting allows you to influence the direction and priorities of the ACMS. If you care about specific issues or want to see certain changes, voting is an effective way to push for your preferred candidates and policies.
  4. Community Engagement: Participating in the election fosters a sense of community and engagement. It shows that you care about the ACMS's well-being and are committed to its success.
  5. Protecting Your Rights: The ACMS Board of Directors and the Delegation often make decisions that affect your rights and interests as a physician. Voting helps protect these rights by ensuring that the people making these decisions are chosen democratically and reflect the members' interests.
  6. Making a Difference: Your vote can make a significant difference, especially in our smaller association, where every vote counts. It can be the deciding factor in electing a candidate, passing a particular motion, or setting policy at the House of Delegates.
  7. Setting a Positive Example: By participating in elections, you set a positive example for others. Your engagement may inspire others to get involved, leading to a more active and participatory community.
  8. Avoiding Apathy: When people don't vote, it can lead to apathy and disenchantment. To maintain a vibrant and active community, it's essential for members to participate in the democratic process.
  9. Ensuring Fairness: Voting helps ensure a fair and transparent election process. It prevents power from becoming concentrated in the hands of a few individuals and promotes equitable representation.
  10. Contribute to Decision-Making: By voting, you become a part of the decision-making process. You have a say in how the ACMS is run, its goals, and its activities.

In summary, voting in the election is an essential part of being an active and engaged member, and it's one of the easiest things to do as a member. The ballot itself will take you no more than 5 minutes to complete. Voting allows you to influence the direction and policies of the ACMS, hold leaders accountable, protect your rights, and contribute to the overall health and vitality of the community. Your vote matters, and it's a way to make your voice heard within the organization.

Thank you for your support.
