Rural Insights – Talent Initiatives
Talent development was the theme of a recent Alliance article published on Rural Insights, a web-based research and information source for Michigan’s U.P. The piece focuses on the variety of local efforts to increase awareness of and interest in pursuing a career and technical occupations that match area employers’ needs. Check out the feature here.
Featured Employer - BOSS Snowplow

Our Featured Employer this month is BOSS Snowplow, a division of The Toro Company. BOSS began manufacturing snowplows in Iron Mountain in 1985. In the early years, the company focused on taking a revolutionary and untested product design and improving it to meet the quality and durability expectations of the commercial snow removal professional. Today, BOSS is a leader in the snow and ice management business with a growing lineup of plows for trucks, UTVs, and ATVs, salt and sand spreaders, and box plows built for the snow and ice management professional, as well as the homeowner. Check out the full feature here.
BOSS Donation Supports DTN
BOSS Snowplow recently announced a $10,000 donation to support the Dickinson Trail Network and their Pewabic Hill Trail System project. The Pewabic Hill Trail System will include five biking trails ranging in difficulty for all skill levels, and a connector trail to link several main loops together.

The trail system is located close to downtown Iron Mountain’s businesses and amenities, making it an ideal location to draw outdoor enthusiasts that reside in town while at the same time routing tourists and visitors to the trail system through the downtown area.

New Signage & Decals

Love Where You Live is the theme of the new Loyal to Local signage and vinyl decals. These materials are available at many local businesses. Consumers are encouraged to show their support for buying local by picking up a sign to display in their yard or a decal for their vehicle. Please message us at loyaltolocal@daeda.org if you would like to receive these materials at your business location.
