Healey-Driscoll Administration Establishes Nation’s First Office of the Energy Transformation


Melissa Lavinson appointed as Executive Director to execute community-by-community decarbonization strategy



The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced the establishment of the Office of the Energy Transformation (OET) and the appointment of Melissa Lavinson as its Executive Director. The Office will be housed within the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and is charged with the hands-on execution of the clean energy transition, including ensuring the availability and readiness of electrical infrastructure, electric and gas transition coordination, and a just transition for impacted workers and businesses. Lavinson will also convene an Energy Transformation Task Force with industry, labor and supply chain representatives, among others, to accelerate cooperation and understanding of the current state of the energy transition in Massachusetts. The Community One Stop for Growth is a single application portal and collaborative review process of community development grant programs that make targeted investments based on a Development Continuum. This process streamlines the experience for the applicant and better coordinates economic development programs and staff on engagement and grant making. It also reorients the State from a passive reviewer of funding requests to an active partner in economic development strategy, priorities, and investment.

The North Shore Alliance for Economic Development (Alliance) has launched the North Shore Small Business Diversity Directory (Diversity Directory) in an effort to improve equity and diversity in both the public and private sectors. Housed on the Alliance website, it is both an online and printable Directory that will help businesses market their services and products. The Diversity Directory information will also assist private businesses and municipalities to pro-actively increase equity in their procurement opportunities.
